Bar in Hai Phong caught fire, many people trapped inside

A tube-shaped bar on Van Cao Street caught fire. The fire engulfed the building for hours, trapping three people in the blaze.

Confirming with VietNamNet reporter this afternoon (May 12), Chairman of Ngo Quyen District People's Committee ( Hai Phong ) Cap Trong Tuan said that he was present at the scene of the bar fire (No. 144 Van Cao, Dang Giang Ward) to participate in directing the fire fighting work.

Ngo Quyen District has no official information on human damage.

At around 2pm this afternoon, at this bar, the fire started on the first floor and quickly spread to the remaining 3 floors. The building has a floor area of about 90 square meters.

Because the shop was designed in a tube-shaped style, with only one front door, the fire was very strong, deforming the first floor rolling door, smoke engulfed 3-4 neighboring shops, forcing people and goods to be evacuated.

At the time of the fire, there were no customers in the restaurant, only 4 employees. All of them climbed to the balcony on the 4th floor to call for help. A female employee born in 2002 was rescued by a neighbor, the other three were forced to go back inside because of falling obstacles and were trapped.
