Strictly manage ships and be ready to respond to tropical depression in the East Sea

On the morning of August 8, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued Official Dispatch No. 5302/CD-BNNMT to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Dak Lak; the Ministries of National Defense, Public Security, Construction, Industry and Trade, Foreign Affairs, Science and Technology, on responding to the tropical depression in the East Sea.

The dispatch stated: Early in the morning of August 8, the low pressure area in the North East Sea strengthened into a tropical depression. At 4:00 a.m. today, the center of the tropical depression was at 19.1 degrees North latitude, 118.2 degrees East longitude, in the sea area east of the North East Sea, with the strongest wind force at level 6, gusting to level 8.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in the West Northwest direction at a speed of 10-15km/hour, with the strongest wind at level 6, gusting to level 8.

To proactively respond to the tropical depression, leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requested ministries, branches and People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Dak Lak to closely monitor the developments of the tropical depression.

In particular, the authorities strictly manage the means of transport going out to sea; organize the counting and notify the owners of the means of transport, captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of the tropical depression so that they can proactively avoid, escape or not move into the dangerous area.

According to the forecast, the dangerous area in the next 24 hours: From 18.0-21.0 degrees North latitude, 113.0-118.5 degrees East longitude (dangerous area is adjusted in forecast bulletins).

Leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also requested ministries, branches and People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Dak Lak to prepare forces and means for rescue when requested.

Ministries and branches, according to their functions, state management tasks and assigned tasks, proactively direct and coordinate with localities to respond to tropical depressions.

Along with that, television stations, coastal information stations and mass media agencies from central to local levels should increase information about the developments of the tropical depression to authorities at all levels, owners of vehicles operating at sea and people to know to proactively prevent and respond./.
