The Cuban Ambassador emphasized that the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba is in a stage of comprehensive and sustainable development, especially that Cuba is implementing agreements between the two countries' senior leaders.
On the afternoon of January 9, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Mr. Rogelio Polanco Fuentes on being entrusted by the Cuban Party and State with the important responsibility of Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam; he believed that in his position, the Ambassador would coordinate in implementing the agreements signed between the Vietnamese Party and State and the Cuban Party and State.
The National Assembly Chairman expressed his delight that over the past time, political and diplomatic relations between the two countries have been continuously strengthened.
In particular, the State visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam in September 2024 is an important milestone bringing the relationship between the two countries to a new height; opening up a new direction and new development in economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
The National Assembly Chairman said that implementing the direction of General Secretary To Lam, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has sent a delegation of experts to support Cuba in developing solar power, contributing to ensuring energy security for Cuba in the coming time.
Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development supports Cuba in the field of agricultural production; the Ministries of Science and Technology, Education and Training, and Health also increase experience exchanges with Cuba.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that in 2025, senior leaders and all levels of the two countries will increase visits, exchanges and learning from each other's experiences.
Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to meet him; expressed his honor to be appointed as Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam to continue promoting the excellent relationship between the two countries.
On this occasion, Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes respectfully conveyed the greetings of First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez, General Raul Castro and President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their support to Cuba in the field of food security; said that with Vietnam's support, Cuba is implementing a new model of agricultural production cooperation, especially rice cultivation.
At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes emphasized that in 2024, the two countries held the First Session of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee to implement the Cooperation Protocol between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National Assembly of the People's Government of Cuba.
The results of the meeting were acknowledged by the leaders of the two countries and included in the Vietnam-Cuba Joint Statement, once again affirming the determination of the two National Assemblies to further deepen the relationship between the two countries through parliamentary cooperation. Within this framework, the two sides agreed on many important contents to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
The two sides will coordinate to organize the 2nd Meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in Vietnam in 2025 with high results.
Emphasizing that 2025 is the "Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year" when the two countries celebrate the 65th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025), which is also the year to celebrate many important events in Vietnam, the two sides affirmed that this is an opportunity to strengthen the special relationship and brotherly solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba./.
