
The traditional festival of Tuong Mai communal house begins with a procession and ceremony at the communal house.
During the ceremony, the village elders wore traditional costumes, performed incense offering rituals, and read eulogies to commemorate the merits of the famous general Tran Khat Chan. This was the most important part of the festival, expressing the people's respect for the talented general.
The festival, which was rehearsed by the elders and people of Tuong Mai for many months, featured many unique performances. The old ladies, old men and local youth demonstrated the unique cultural features of the land rich in cultural and historical traditions of Hoang Mai district.

Tuong Mai communal house festival is held annually to commemorate and pay tribute to General Tran Khat Chan - a famous general of the Tran Dynasty, who made great contributions in protecting the country against the invasion of the Champa army.
According to historical records, Tran Khat Chan was from Ha Lang village, Vinh Ninh district, now Vinh Loc district, Thanh Hoa province. He was a descendant of Bao Nghia Vuong Tran Binh Trong with the immortal saying "I would rather be a ghost in the South than a king in the North".

Tuong Mai Communal House was built to worship the famous general Tran Khat Chan. The communal house still preserves the “Co Mai Bi Ky” stele, which records the legend of the famous general Tran Khat Chan. Next to it are 10 royal decrees granted to the two brothers by different dynasties.
The Tuong Mai communal house festival is an opportunity for people to review history andeducate the younger generation about patriotism and solidarity. It is also an important part of the community's cultural life, helping to connect generations and maintain good customs and practices.

According to the Chairwoman of Tuong Mai Ward People's Committee Pham Thi Kim Thanh, the 2025 Tuong Mai communal house festival is considered to have the largest scale and number of participants in the past 10 years. The Party Committee, government and people of Tuong Mai wish to mark the traditional cultural and historical event of the locality before entering the new government model from July 1, 2025.
