Promoting the beauty of intangible cultural heritage

From now until December 22, when coming to Quang Ninh Museum, people and tourists will be able to visit the first special exhibition organized with the theme "Colors of intangible cultural heritage of Quang Ninh province in Vietnamese intangible culture". This is a joint activity between Quang Ninh Museum and the Museum of Cultures of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day November 23.

Quang Ninh currently has 362 intangible cultural heritages with 7 types including: 76 traditional folk festivals, 25 traditional handicraft heritages, 22 folk performing arts heritages, 14 folk language heritages, 168 social practice heritages, 7 spoken and written language heritages, 50 folk knowledge heritages. Of which, there are 12 national intangible cultural heritages including: Then practice of the Tay people, Hat nha to (hat cua dinh), Cua Ong Temple Festival, Tien Cong Festival, Tra Co Communal House Festival, Quan Lan Communal House Festival, Bach Dang Festival, Soong co singing of the San Chi people, Soong co singing of the San Diu people, Dam Ha Communal House Festival, Van Ninh Communal House Festival (Mong Cai City) and Xuong Dong Festival (Quang Yen Town).

In recent times, many intangible cultural heritages in the province have been given attention for preservation and promotion of their values. One of the practical activities is to organize an exhibition by the Quang Ninh Museum. The exhibition introduces two main parts: Part 1 "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity recognized by UNESCO" and Part 2 "National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Quang Ninh Province". Through 76 photos, 32 excerpts and 6 sets of statues recreating folk performances, the exhibition introduces the rich intangible cultural heritage values ​​of Quang Ninh; promotes the culture, people of Vietnam and Quang Ninh to the public and tourists.

Lecturers and students of the Faculty of Culture, Ha Long University visited and studied at the exhibition.
In the thematic exhibition space at the conference block of Quang Ninh Museum, the content of part 1 "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity recognized by UNESCO" is arranged on the left. Here, 15 types of intangible cultural heritage are introduced through a system of excerpts and 40 images of artisans practicing the heritage.

Opposite the first part is the content of part 2 "National intangible cultural heritage of Quang Ninh province" arranged on the right side of the exhibition space with 12 groups of panels introducing. The excerpts are summarized in the most concise way the unique content of the heritage, the year of recognition. Accompanying that are 36 images of Quang Ninh folk artists practicing the heritage, performing on stage and teaching the younger generation.

In the middle of the main space and focusing on visitors' observation is a cluster of statues and a screen showing video clips about the intangible cultural heritage of Vietnamese ethnic groups recognized by UNESCO. Notably, there is a cluster of statues about folk performances of Ca Tru singing, Central Highlands gongs, Hue royal court music, Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs and Southern amateur music.

On the opening day of the exhibition, many artists were invited to visit and perform. Folk artist Ly Thi Hoa, Head of the Then singing and Tinh lute club of Binh Lieu town (Binh Lieu district), shared: Today, coming to the exhibition, I feel extremely proud and honored. We bring Then singing, the unique cultural identity of the Tay people in Binh Lieu district, here to promote and spread to domestic and foreign tourists. Currently, our club has 102 members of all ages, practicing enthusiastically, the elderly teaching the young. Our Then singing team can perform for events and festivals to serve visitors at any time if invited.

Dr. Ngo Hai Ninh, Head of the Department of Culture, Ha Long University, shared: The exhibition is for everyone to come to the Museum, can see that our Quang Ninh is an ancient land with unique cultural beauty in both tangible and intangible culture. That intangible cultural treasure reflects the formation and development of the people of Quang Ninh ethnic groups, in which, representatives are the Kinh ethnic groups in the plains, the Tay, San Diu, San Chi in the mountains. This is a meaningful opportunity for our cultural lecturers and students to attend because what is on display is related to the training content of the school. We hope that the Museum will organize more exhibitions to coordinate professional exchanges and bring its students to visit, learn and study.
