Quang Ninh currently has 362 intangible cultural heritage sites across 7 categories: 76 traditional folk festivals, 25 traditional crafts, 22 folk performing arts, 14 folk literature, 168 social customs, 7 written language, and 50 folk knowledge. Among these, 12 are national intangible cultural heritage sites, including: the Then ritual of the Tay people, Nha To singing (Temple singing), Cua Ong Temple Festival, Tien Cong Festival, Tra Co Temple Festival, Quan Lan Temple Festival, Bach Dang Festival, Soong Co singing of the San Chi people, Soong Co singing of the San Diu people, Dam Ha Temple Festival, Van Ninh Temple Festival (Mong Cai City), and Xuong Dong Festival (Quang Yen Town).

In recent years, many intangible cultural heritage sites in the province have received attention for preservation and promotion. One practical initiative is the exhibition organized by the Quang Ninh Museum. The exhibition features two main sections: Part 1, "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity inscribed by UNESCO," and Part 2, "National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Quang Ninh Province." Through 76 photographs, 32 excerpts, and 6 sets of sculptures recreating folk performances, the exhibition introduces the rich intangible cultural heritage values of Quang Ninh; promoting Vietnamese and Quang Ninh culture and people to the public and tourists.

In the thematic exhibition space at the conference block of the Quang Ninh Museum, Part 1, "Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity inscribed by UNESCO," is arranged on the left. Here, 15 types of intangible cultural heritage are introduced through excerpts, along with 40 images of artisans practicing these heritages.

Located opposite the first section is the second section, "National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Quang Ninh Province," situated on the right side of the exhibition space with 12 display panels. The excerpts concisely summarize the distinctive features of the heritage and the year of recognition. Accompanying this are 36 images of Quang Ninh folk artisans practicing the heritage, performing on stage, and teaching it to the younger generation.

In the center of the main space, attracting the attention of visitors, is a cluster of statues and screens displaying video clips about the intangible cultural heritage of Vietnamese ethnic groups recognized by UNESCO. Notably, there are statues depicting folk performances such as Ca Tru singing, Central Highlands gong music, Hue royal court music, Quan Ho folk songs of Bac Ninh, and Southern Vietnamese folk music.

On the opening day of the exhibition, many artisans were invited to visit and perform. Folk artist Ly Thi Hoa, Head of the Then Singing and Dan Tinh Playing Club of Binh Lieu town (Binh Lieu district), shared: "Coming to the exhibition today, I feel extremely proud and honored. We are bringing Then singing, a unique cultural identity of the Tay people of Binh Lieu district, here to promote and spread it to domestic and international tourists. Currently, our club has 102 members of all ages, practicing passionately, with the elders teaching the younger generation. Our Then singing team can perform at events and festivals for tourists at any time if invited."

Dr. Ngo Hai Ninh, Head of the Department of Culture, Ha Long University, shared: "The exhibition allows visitors to the Museum to see that Quang Ninh is an ancient land with unique cultural features, both tangible and intangible. This treasure trove of intangible culture reflects the formation and development of the people of Quang Ninh, represented by the Kinh people in the lowlands and the Tay, San Diu, and San Chi people in the mountainous areas. This is a meaningful opportunity for our lecturers and cultural students to participate because what is on display is related to the school's training content. We hope that the Museum will organize more exhibitions to facilitate professional exchange and bring our students to visit, learn, and explore."
