With domestic gasoline consumption of about 1 - 1.2 million m3 per month, equivalent to 12 - 15 million m3/year, the amount of Ethanol needed to meet the blending requirements is about 1.2 - 1.5 million m3/year. Up to this point, domestic Ethanol production capacity currently meets about 450 thousand cubic meters/year, equivalent to 40% of demand, the rest must be imported.
In the context of fluctuating world Ethanol prices, increasingly fierce market competition and import tax policies, restoring the operation of domestic Ethanol factories is an urgent and effective solution.
In Quang Ngai , the Central Petroleum Biofuel Joint Stock Company has developed a plan to continue production through business cooperation. The company will restart the factory in September, conduct a trial operation in October and officially start commercial production from November 2025.
The return of Dung Quat Biofuel Plant to the biofuel supply chain is considered a positive signal for the entire Vietnamese energy industry in its efforts to green and reduce emissions.
