VOV.VN - Many people woke up at 5am to clean up parks and alleys together. Tens of thousands of young people and forces joined forces to clean up the beaches, contributing to the quick restoration of Ha Long and Quang Ninh .
One week after storm No. 3 (super typhoon Yagi ), Ha Long City (Quang Ninh province) is no longer in disarray, with fallen trees scattered all over the streets. However, many other public areas such as parks and beaches have not yet returned to their normal appearance.
Over the past week, people and forces inside and outside the province have urgently cleaned up and sanitized the environment to avoid pollution, helping traffic on the streets to be smooth and ensuring safety when traveling.
During the weekend of September 14-15, responding to the launch of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, people and forces simultaneously carried out a general environmental cleaning. In particular, the Ha Long City Youth Union launched a volunteer campaign to respond to the 7-day and night peak campaign to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 of the Ha Long City Party Committee with about 10,000 youth union members.
At Bai Chay Tourist Area, the 3km long beach is flooded with garbage including tree branches and household items blown away by the wind from neighboring areas, not to mention collapsed construction materials and shops lying scattered on the sand.
Youth union members from units and schools divided into areas to clean up, mainly collecting and processing tree branches and garbage to clean the beach.
Ms. Le Huong, a resident of Bai Chay Ward, was present early in the morning to clean the beach, along with about 40 other people, friends and neighbors in the neighborhood. They meticulously collected the pieces of foam buoys that had been blown away by the wind and mixed them with sand to transport them for disposal: “If these foam particles are not collected, they will drift back to the sea, which is very dangerous. We often swim here, and we just hope to contribute a little so that the beach can be clean and beautiful again soon.”
Ms. Huong's son, Gia Binh, 8 years old, also joined his mother from morning to afternoon. The children cleaned up the trash and called out to each other when they discovered trash washed up on the beach by the waves.
In the Hon Gai area, the nearly 5km long Tran Quoc Nghien coastal road has also been cleaned up in recent days.
Youth Union members and soldiers together cleared the sand from the sidewalk and dumped it back on the beach. By the morning of September 15, the entire Tran Quoc Nghien coastal road area had been restored to its natural beauty.
Throughout the neighborhoods and alleys, people simultaneously called each other to clean up, collect bulky solid waste and construction waste for transportation and disposal, even though many places in the city still had no electricity or water. Groups called on social networks to clean up parks and public playgrounds together early in the morning, taking advantage of the time when the sun was not too hot.
It is estimated that hundreds of tons of garbage are collected on beaches and streets every day. In addition to Ha Long, 12 other localities in Quang Ninh also launched a clean-up campaign, most of the garbage, trees, billboards, corrugated iron roofs, etc. that were broken due to storms and rains have been collected.
Many tourist groups have come to Ha Long after storm number 3, hoping that the city on the shore of the heritage bay will soon restore its former splendid appearance.
Quang Ninh strives to complete the general environmental cleaning work before Monday (September 16) to "clean houses, clean alleys, clean residences and workplaces", helping people's lives return to normal soon, while restoring production, business and tourism services to serve tourists.
