Quang Tri needs to maximize resources to promote socio-economic development.

Implementing the Prime Minister's direction in Official Dispatch No. 238/CD-TTG dated April 10, 2023 on promoting production and business, construction investment and import and export in the coming time, on the morning of May 13, at the headquarters of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung led a Government delegation to have a working session with this locality.

Standing Deputy Secretary of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dang Quang, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong and leaders of local departments and branches attended the meeting.

Reporting to the working delegation, Mr. Ha Sy Dong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, said that 2023 is an important year in implementing the socio-economic development plan goals for the 2021 - 2025 period.

Thoroughly implementing the Government's motto of action "Solidarity, discipline, flexibility, innovation, timeliness and effectiveness" with the determination to successfully implement the goals and tasks of the 2023 plan, right from the first days and months, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province promptly issued many programs and activities to discuss and propose many specific solutions, suitable to the new situation.

Thanks to that, the province's socio-economic situation in the first months of the year has changed positively. Specifically, the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first quarter is estimated to increase by 6.16% over the same period last year, higher than the increase of 3.97% in the first quarter of 2022. The province's economy continues to recover and develop.

By the end of April 2023, there were 618 projects with valid investment licenses with a total investment capital of up to VND 246,675.86 billion.

Regarding the implementation of the 2023 public investment plan, as of April 30, 2023, the total disbursement value was VND 314.94 billion, reaching 10.2% of the plan. Specifically, the local budget was VND 180,552 billion, reaching 13.6% of the plan; the central budget supported the target of VND 117,463 billion, reaching 9.5% of the plan...

In addition, the locality has also been devoting many resources, focusing on directing the implementation and accelerating the progress of key projects in the area such as the Eastern bypass of Dong Ha city with a total investment of 399.96 billion VND; Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway Project; Coastal road project connecting the East - West economic corridor with a total investment of 2,060 billion VND...

In addition to the important and positive results achieved in all sectors and fields, the leaders of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee also pointed out difficulties, obstacles and limitations in the process of operation and implementation such as difficulties in production and business; obstacles in public investment; difficulties and obstacles in implementing non-state investment projects in the province...

"The locality recommends and asks for opinions from the Government working group and central ministries and agencies to pay attention, direct, and create mechanisms to support local development," Mr. Ha Sy Dong emphasized.

After listening to the opinions and assessments of the leaders of ministries and branches in the working delegation, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung expressed his agreement with the local leaders.

The Minister acknowledged that Quang Tri is a small province with a population of more than 650,000 people. Compared to some other provinces, Quang Tri has a low starting point and faces many difficulties due to the consequences of two wars.

Appreciating the results that Quang Tri has achieved in recent times, the Minister also said that the province's starting point still has many limitations.

"But having nothing is also an advantage and localities should boldly do it to develop," the Minister emphasized.

According to Minister Nguyen Manh Hung, Quang Tri province still faces many difficulties but is also a locality with many potentials, including local potentials and potentials from external support.

"After developing wind power, Quang Tri is now interested in attracting investors to develop electricity, creating a balance to turn the locality into an energy center, which is also a very harmonious policy.

Furthermore, in Quang Tri there are two national martyrs' cemeteries, which are the resting places of tens of thousands of cadres and soldiers from all over the country who sacrificed their lives in the resistance wars. Every year, millions of people from other localities come to Quang Tri, care about the locality, visit the cemeteries... because that is where their grandfathers, fathers, and brothers rest. Therefore, in addition to available resources, the locality can also utilize human resources from outside," the Minister of Information and Communications suggested.

The Minister suggested that in the coming time, localities need to make the most of available resources to call for investment and promote socio-economic development.

In particular, development based on digital economy, green economy, and systematic investment in IT to help officials and civil servants reduce time pressure and workload.

“Regarding some local recommendations and problems, representatives of the leaders of the ministries and branches present here have already commented. As for other recommendations and proposals, the working group will collect and report to the Government and the Prime Minister according to their authority,” Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized.
