In the first year, QuickPack exported.

Exports of more than 50 TEUs, by 2024 the export figure will increase to more than 2,000 TEUs. After 7 years of development, QuickPack decided to continue expanding the scale of the 10ha industrial park project, doubling QuickPack's capacity in Vietnam. Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Long An province Nguyen Van Duoc spoke.

New step forward for Long An International Port Project Cluster

The signing ceremony marks a new development milestone for QuickPack and the Southeast Asia Industrial Park in Long An. This place is creating many economic development opportunities for the region, as the Industrial Park is adjacent to the Port Area, Urban Area, Industrial Service Area, creating a complete Long An International Port Project Cluster, invested by Dongtam Group with a scale of 1,935 hectares, right in Can Giuoc District, Long An Province.

With the strategic vision of Long An province is to develop Can Giuoc district into an international transit center, a gateway for trade exchange, taking Long An International Port, Long An Economic Zone, the belt traffic system, and the dynamic axis as new growth drivers, dynamically developing with new, modern economic models on the basis of existing urban areas, multi-industry industrial systems, ports and port logistics, logistics, tourism, services, trade, and urban areas associated with environmental protection. Investing in factories in industrial parks located right next to seaports not only brings clear benefits in logistics costs, but also creates a sustainable development ecosystem, promoting regional and national economic growth. These industrial parks are the "bridge" between production and the international market, helping to optimize the supply chain and promote the development of supporting industries.

Comrade Nguyen Van Duoc, Secretary of Long An Provincial Party Committee said: “Although I did not have much time in Germany, I felt the intersection and similarity between the strengths of Germany and Vietnam, Cologne and Long An. In particular, Cologne with its strengths in industry and mechanical engineering are exactly the key targets that Long An is interested in, attracting investment to promote development in the coming time. With the confidence and boldness of a dynamic government, maximum support for domestic and foreign investors, and according to the goals and vision to 2050, it is completely in line with the development cooperation orientation with Germany. I think, why don't we establish Long An - Cologne Industrial Park in Long An to further promote investment cooperation between the two provinces and cities. I hope to have the support of IHK, AHK as well as GTAI to realize this idea, although the number of German enterprises in Long An is still modest, but reality shows that they have been very successful - QuickPack is a typical example".

Mr. Philipp Rosler, former German Vice Chancellor - Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Switzerland spoke at the event.

Towards a sustainable future

Long An is the first province in the Mekong Delta region to have its development plan approved for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 to become a dynamic, effective and sustainable economic development center of the Southern region, and by 2050 to be the leading industrial province in the country; and is currently focusing on implementing the plan, creating momentum for development with a strategic location, rapid urbanization, and strongly developed infrastructure; In addition, the PCI index in 2023 ranked second in the country, with certain advantages for industrial and service development; Accordingly, the province has attracted many FDI enterprises to invest.

This working trip continues the activities of the 2024 Investment Promotion Program of Long An province, which is very important in expanding the international relations of Long An province with partners in Europe, promoting economic cooperation, attracting investment in green transformation projects, and actively contributing to the shift of foreign direct investment (FDI) into the province. This is also a good opportunity for Long An province's enterprises to exchange experiences and promote bilateral economic cooperation activities with European partners.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Council presented a souvenir to Mr. Joerg Schwaderer, Chairman of QuickPack Group.

Mr. Philipp Rosler - Former German Vice Chancellor - Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Switzerland spoke at the event: “Vietnam in general and Long An in particular have great potential for development. Especially Long An with developed infrastructure, long border with Cambodia as well as Long An International Port, there are many opportunities to attract foreign investment. The European Union has 15 countries investing in Long An and I hope that more and more German enterprises will choose Long An to invest. The Mekong Delta not only has agricultural and aquatic products but also high-tech agriculture that is increasingly developing with Long An province being a typical example”.

The signing of the cooperation agreement between Dongtam Group and QuickPack is very meaningful in the context of the increasingly good development of Vietnam - Germany relations; and also contributes to a new milestone in the international economic cooperation map between Vietnam and Germany, thereby contributing to affirming the position of Dongtam Group and QuickPack.

German enterprises are particularly interested in and appreciate the investment environment in Vietnam, its potential, development advantages, as well as the support of leaders at all levels for foreign investors. In the coming time, the Vietnam Trade Counselor Office in Germany said it will continue to coordinate and actively support Long An in attracting German investors; at the same time, it will support and regularly promote economic diplomacy between the two countries, as well as connect localities in cooperation activities, trade and investment promotion./.
