Kon Tum province has a natural area of over 9,600 km2, with 10 administrative units at district and city levels. The whole province also orients its economy towards multi-sectoral, multi-field, comprehensive, fast and sustainable development, ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands. Maximizing the human factor, taking investment, improving the quality of human resources and developing education and training as the foundation for sustainable development.
In addition, the government also focuses on investing in developing and managing urban areas in a green, smart direction, saving resources, energy and with a clear identity.
By 2030, the province will strive to become one of the average provinces in the country; a key national medicinal herb region and a major medicinal herb production center of the country; a national and regional tourist center associated with the Bo Y international border gate economic zone and Mang Den tourist area.
In order to develop the economy, Kon Tum province needs to build, renovate and upgrade key traffic routes connecting the center and key areas such as the Ngoc Hoi - Kon Tum - Pleiku expressway project, the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum expressway project. Promote investment in the Bo Y international border gate economic zone, Mang Den tourist area...
Identify the key development areas in the Eastern region including Kon Plong and Kon Ray districts, in which Mang Den town is the core. Develop these two districts in the direction of ecological urban areas, landscapes, rich in unique identities, highly serving tourism and services. Focus on developing the processing industry of agricultural, forestry and medicinal products, especially Ngoc Linh ginseng to become a symbol of the whole Kon Tum province.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized that Kon Tum province is located in the far North of the Central Highlands, plays an important strategic role in economics, politics, national defense and security, and is a locality with a long history and unique cultural traditions; this is also the land with the landmark "Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia Border Marker" - a symbol of solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the three Indochinese countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister also affirmed the importance of Kon Tum province's planning, which will be a guideline for all levels and sectors of the province to plan specific policies and solutions to manage and operate all socio-economic activities and development space for the locality in order to create a breakthrough in socio-economic development by 2030 and vision to 2050.
At the conference, the Deputy Prime Minister presented the Decision approving the Kon Tum Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2023, with a vision to 2050, to the Chairman of the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee.
