In the first quarter of 2025, the total number of international visitors will be about 6 million, an increase of 29.6% compared to the first quarter of 2024. This is the highest number ever; compared to the same period in 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic), the number of visitors increased by 134%.

In terms of market size, among the 10 largest markets for Vietnamese tourism , China ranked first with 1.58 million arrivals (a growth rate of 78.3%), followed by South Korea with 1.26 million arrivals (equivalent to a growth rate of 2.2%). These two large markets contributed up to 47% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam.

Next are the markets of Taiwan, the United States, Japan, Australia, and India. These markets all have growth rates of 10-26%. With the advantage of geographical distance, markets in the Southeast Asian region have grown well, in which the number of visitors from Cambodia increased impressively by 105.6%, the Philippines (+95.1%), Laos (+52.7%), Indonesia (+6.9%), and Thailand (+4.7%).

European markets continued to grow by double digits, especially markets enjoying unilateral visa exemption policies such as: UK (+23.5%), France (+28.3%), Germany (+23.3%), Italy (+29.0%), Spain (+17.5%), Denmark (+17.6%), Sweden (+18.7%), Norway (+16.0%). In particular, the Russian market increased sharply by 110.5%. The Polish and Swiss markets also recorded an increase in the number of visitors, up 52.9% and 14.1% respectively compared to the same period in 2024.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said that this is the result of the Government 's issuance of Resolution 11/NQ-CP on short-term visa exemption for Polish, Czech and Swiss citizens from March 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 under the 2025 Tourism Development Stimulus Program. This policy is expected to create momentum to attract more visitors from these three European markets in 2025.

The implementation of visa exemption along with a series of promotional programs, innovation in tourism promotion methods, and increasing the attractiveness of Vietnam's tourism products and destinations aim to ensure the achievement of the target of 22 - 23 million international visitors in 2025.
