The event was organized by the Center for Development and Promotion of Vietnamese Literary Books (Vietnam Writers Association) on April 5 in Hanoi.
Speaking at the book launch, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, emphasized that this is an opportunity to honor the dedication of poet Thuan Huu and writer Phan Duc Nhan, while also arousing in readers a love for literature, history and noble human values. It is also an affirmation that Vietnamese literature continues its journey of recording beautiful and meaningful stories of people and times.

Emotionally sharing at the book launch, poet Thuan Huu said that as the son of fishermen in the Vi Giam region of Ha Tinh, he was fortunate to grow up in journalism, travel a lot, study a lot and live in many different regions of the country. During more than 20 years of being attached to the Central Highlands, he met writer Phan Duc Nhan and has been close to him until now.

Contribute to life the voice of a lover
The poetry collection “Picked up along the road” by poet Thuan Huu, published by the Writers Association Publishing House, is his fourth work after “Moments of agitation” (poetry collection, Quang Nam - Da Nang Literature and Arts Association, 1987), “Daylight” (story collection, Da Nang Publishing House, 1988), “The sea calls” (poetry collection, Da Nang Publishing House, 2000).
“Picked up along the road” includes more than 100 poems, just like the author's title "Sitting to pick up the scattered pieces of the soul/Contributing to life the voice of a lover".

The work has 3 parts: “Homeland - Country”, “Family - Memories”, “Love of the Sea - Love of You”. The collection of poems is simple but full of power, each sentence is the echo of a sensitive and life-loving soul. Although always humble and not accepting the title of “poet”, Thuan Huu leaves a deep impression with natural verses like breath, simple like life.
Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu commented: “One thing I realized along Thuan Huu’s “poetry path” is that the beauty and message of life are always hidden around us. Thuan Huu’s poetry is like a bell, moving in life, touching joy, sadness and ringing itself. When he writes about pain or darkness, beauty, love and the light of hope still overcome everything to ring.”
The poetry collection “Picked up along the road” is not only the autobiography of a person who has traveled through the sun, wind, mountains, hills and ocean waves, but also an invitation for readers to listen to the magical sounds of life, thereby rediscovering values that seem to have been forgotten.
Memories of the heroic white sand area

The memoir “Far and Near” by writer Phan Duc Nhan is the voice from the heart of a man born and raised on the white sands of Binh Duong (Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province) - a land soaked in blood and sweat from the bombs of war. With a simple and sincere writing style, Phan Duc Nhan takes readers back to a tragic time, where people from the simple countryside wrote the legend of a strong desire for peace.

The book, published by the Writers Association Publishing House, consists of two parts: “People of the Sand Region” and “People Not Far Away”. Writing a review of the book, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu expressed: ““Far and Near” are not ordinary pages of literature or history. It is something higher than all, written by a man who lived buried in the sand, in bombs, in blood and in immortal dreams of peace”. The work is a magnificent song about the will and courage of the Vietnamese people.
The two books are printed with many paintings by famous contemporary artists. In particular, the poetry collection “Picked Along the Road” has 30 supplementary paintings drawn by artist Dao Hai Phong based on the emotions from the suggestive verses. The paintings were also displayed at the book launch ceremony, creating a unique harmony of language, shapes and colors.
The essay collection "Far and Near" has paintings by three artists Dao Hai Phong, Do Trung Quan and Vu Trong Anh as a supplement.
