For new recruits, the first few days of military service present a significant challenge in adapting to the strict discipline. This includes folding blankets and sheets neatly, maintaining order in the living quarters—from the placement of shoes and clothes to towels—to ensuring everything is orderly and consistent; and adhering to regulations regarding address and greetings. Furthermore, waking up early and following a strict schedule also presents many recruits with considerable difficulty.
However, with willpower and determination to overcome the initial challenges, after only a few days, the initial awkwardness gradually gave way to adaptation and rapid integration into the new environment - the disciplined environment of the military.
With willpower and determination to overcome the initial challenges, within just a few days, the new recruits gradually adapted and quickly integrated into the disciplined environment of the army.
“In the early days of my military service, I felt the military environment was unfamiliar to me. But after integrating, I no longer felt constrained or pressured. In particular, the dedicated assistance of the unit commanders helped us quickly adapt to the military environment. I will strive to study and train to become an officer in the Vietnam People's Army, dedicating my youth to the country,” shared new recruit Lam Phu Hao.

To help new recruits quickly stabilize their mindset and adapt to the new environment, the unit effectively implemented the "four together" principle: eating together, living together, working together, and sharing together with the soldiers. In particular, the squad leaders are the closest and most familiar officers, ensuring they understand even the smallest changes in the daily lives of each new recruit.
"During the training of new recruits, the Party Committee and the Battalion Command identified three main points to implement from the outset. Firstly, proactively gathering information from the moment new recruits join the unit, using recruit information forms, and then reviewing and classifying each group of recruits to provide appropriate support and education. Secondly, proactively implementing the model of the officer acting as an older brother or sister, deploying it at each level from battalion, company, and platoon. Thirdly, maintaining strict discipline and combining it with democracy to effectively understand and manage the soldiers' thoughts, thereby promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles so that new recruits can confidently perform their duties," said Major Nguyen Van Linh, Political Officer of Battalion 1, Regiment 894.

After more than two weeks in the military environment, each soldier has shown significant maturity. Although many difficulties and challenges lie ahead, with the enthusiasm of youth, the new recruits are determined to cultivate their character, willpower, and disciplined conduct, ready to accept and successfully complete all assigned tasks, contributing to the cause of building and firmly defending the Fatherland in the new situation.
