The TCL C8K TV is a 75-inch, 4K resolution TV. |
TCL is renowned for dominating the budget segment in Vietnam. As a large, long-standing brand, it remains competitive in pricing with newer brands like Cooca, Casper, and Xiaomi. However, this doesn't mean they've abandoned the high-end segment. They are still a leading global manufacturer of LED panels, incorporating advanced technology into their products.
TCL positions the C8K model in the high-end segment, priced at around 50 million VND in Vietnam. Besides showcasing technology, it's also a key product for the company to compete with South Korean manufacturers, who currently hold a monopoly on large-format OLED displays.
The power of Mini LED
The TCL C8K uses TCL's proprietary QD-Mini LED technology. This combines two of the best image solutions currently available: Quantum Dot and Mini LED backlighting. These combine to enhance the TV's display capabilities at all brightness levels. Furthermore, the C8K avoids the durability concerns often associated with OLED TVs.
At 75 inches, this TV achieves a maximum brightness of 4,000 nits. Its mini LED network, comprising over 1,680 local dimming zones, enhances contrast and displays HDR content as well as higher-end products.
TCL's CrystGlow HVA technology also addresses the viewing angle issue of VA panels. The TV's display remains consistent across most viewing angles without sacrificing contrast.

The C8K uses QD MiniLED technology, ensuring high brightness and vibrant colors. |
Overall, the TV still exhibits a slight blooming effect around white text on a completely black background. However, this isn't a major issue for most of the time. In return, it has many strengths compared to OLEDs in this price range, such as high brightness and durability. This TV is also factory color calibrated with a Delta E of 0.23 in Filmmaker mode. Quantum Dot technology addresses color coverage issues, even at high brightness levels. Placed next to an OLED TV, the C8K is nearly identical in color saturation. It only falls slightly short in color vibrancy.
The company has also equipped it with almost all the necessary standards found on modern TVs, such as HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ, and HLG. It supports a high refresh rate of 144 Hz, works at 4K resolution, and is compatible with next-generation gaming consoles like the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. It also has two HDMI 2.1 ports for this purpose.
This model only has a slight latency issue, at around 13.6 ms. This high value leads to significant delay in high-paced games like eSports shooters. However, high-resolution TVs like the TCL C8K are more suitable for role-playing and open-world games than for eSports .
Comprehensive equipment
AI-powered image upscaling and frame addition technologies have become common in TVs on the market. The C8K is naturally equipped with them. It performs well in interpolating broadcast images to display in 4K resolution. However, when adding sports, some transitions make frame addition difficult, failing to maintain a smooth 60 fps.
The product runs on Google TV, powered by the MediaTek Pentonic 700 chip. This is a highly open operating system, allowing users to easily download applications via Google Play or third-party APKs. The configuration provided by TCL is also good enough for the TV to operate stably, without experiencing lag or stuttering during startup or when running multiple applications simultaneously.

TCL equips the C8K with B&O speakers and many additional features. |
Conversely, a common problem with all Google TVs is the constant display of ads on the home screen. This is annoying when the software suggests inappropriate content.
TCL also worked with Apple to bring AirPlay 2 connectivity to the C8K model. This is a necessary feature for iPhone users. It's also an advantage when comparing TCL's TVs to Samsung and LG products in the same price range.
Sound is also a strong point of this model. As a high-end model, TCL equips the device with B&O speakers with a power output of up to 90W. Under normal conditions, the TV can perform well, especially with action movies with explosions or playing EDM music, where the subwoofer reproduces a much deeper bass range.
The build quality of the C8K is on par with more expensive Samsung and Sony TVs. This series features ultra-thin bezels, almost invisible from normal viewing distances. The TV's thickness has also been reduced; while not quite "wall-mountable," it still looks elegant and blends seamlessly into any space.
Who is C8K for?
With its MiniLED panel and 4K resolution at 75 inches, the C8K offers good performance for its price. Users get a device that guarantees better display quality and more durable operation than OLED. Comparable options like Samsung's QN90D or Sony's Bravia 9 are more expensive than TCL's TV.
Domestic consumers still prioritize Korean and Japanese brands when choosing high-end TVs. However, at this price point, TCL's quality is not inferior, especially since the company has complete control over screen manufacturing.
