A line of Iranian missiles during the annual military parade on September 21 in Tehran
"The US has information that Iran is preparing to attack Israel with ballistic missiles," AFP quoted an unnamed senior White House official.
"We are actively supporting defense efforts to protect Israel against this threat," the US official added.
Following the above warning, the Israeli military said that so far it has not detected any threat similar to the information from its US ally.
"At this time, we have not detected any aerial threat from Iran," said Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an Israeli military spokesman, adding that Israel was coordinating with the US to closely monitor Iran's movements.

Rear Admiral Hagari said the country's air defense systems were on high alert, while fighter jets continued to patrol airspace.
"Iran would face serious consequences if it launched a direct military attack against Israel," the US official added.
Also on October 1, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized that Washington is closely monitoring events in the Middle East.
"The United States is committed to defending Israel," Mr. Blinken said during a meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita at the US State Department headquarters in Washington DC.
In another development, the Pentagon announced on September 30 that it would increase US forces in the Middle East by several thousand more soldiers, while continuing to send fighter jets to the region.
