Hoang Van Thu commune is one of the communes with the largest area of Vanh Khuyen persimmons in the province. Currently, the whole commune has 598 hectares of Vanh Khuyen persimmons, of which 467 hectares are being harvested, 67 hectares are produced according to VietGAP process.
Ms. Cao Thi Minh Hong, Head of the Economic Department of Hoang Van Thu Commune, said: Persimmon is a key crop that brings high income to local people. This year, persimmons have a good harvest, with an estimated yield of 6 tons/ha and an estimated output of over 2,800 tons, an increase of about 5-10% compared to last year.
Mr. Hoang Van Den, Na Mo village, Hoang Van Thu commune shared: My family has over 300 Vanh khuyen rose trees, of which 100 are being harvested. Since the beginning of the season, my family has sold more than 1 ton, the estimated rose yield this year is about 7 - 8 tons (an increase of about 10% compared to last year), the price is stable from 16,000 VND - 18,000 VND/kg, traders come to the garden to buy.
Not only Mr. Den's family, people growing Vanh Khuyen roses in other communes in the province are also happy and excited because this year's rose harvest is good. Mr. Hoang Van Hung, Director of Hoang Viet Agricultural Cooperative, Na Sam commune, said: The Cooperative currently has 8 members with about 20 hectares of Vanh Khuyen roses. At this time, members of the Cooperative have started harvesting roses to sell to traders. This year, the Cooperative's members are very excited because the rose harvest is good, the output of the entire Cooperative is estimated at about 80 tons, an increase of 5 - 10% compared to 2024. In addition, the selling price is also stable, fluctuating from 16,000 - 18,000 VND/kg and it is expected that from now until the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, the price of roses will continue to increase.
The Persimmon tree is one of the main crops, bringing high economic efficiency, grown in the communes: Hoang Van Thu, Na Sam, Diem He... According to data from professional agencies, the whole province currently has over 1,500 hectares of Persimmon trees, of which the harvested area is estimated at 1,100 hectares, the area of Persimmon trees produced according to VietGAP standards is 580 hectares. The economic value of Persimmon trees is estimated at about 260 billion VND/year.
According to a survey by reporters in some communes with large areas of growing persimmons in the province, this year, the persimmon crop is good, with productivity and output increasing by about 5-10% compared to last year's crop. The good crop of persimmons is due to favorable weather conditions this year, in addition, people have proactively applied scientific and technical advances in production, actively taking care of them according to VietGAP and organic processes. Currently, persimmons are purchased by traders from all over the country, with prices ranging from 16,000 to 18,000 VND/kg.
According to the leaders of the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, Department of Agriculture and Environment, in recent years, people growing persimmons in the province have been supported with training and guidance on planting and caring for persimmon trees; participated in production models according to safety and organic standards and models of renovating old rose gardens, building brands, thereby contributing to improving productivity, quality and product value. In order for the Vanh Khuyen persimmon tree to develop sustainably, bringing stable income to people, in the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will continue to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and specialized agencies to effectively implement the contents of guiding people to apply science and technology in production in a safe and sustainable direction, improving product quality; promoting trade promotion activities, product promotion; encouraging businesses and cooperatives to link up and consume products, especially encouraging investment in persimmon processing facilities.
