Bustling children's book season

Welcoming Children's Day and the summer of 2023, book publishers have released many new works and organized reading activities and interactive spaces to welcome young readers.

“Summer reading corner” - a free activity for children organized by Kim Dong Publishing House this summer.

Kim Dong Publishing House has always been the "big brother" in the children's book industry, and every holiday or Tet, it tries to bring young readers a list of works rich in topics and diverse in genres. This summer, for preschoolers, there are eye-catching and attractive picture books. These include "My Dad is a Runner" by author Bui Phuong Tam and artist Jeet Dzung; the book series "I Love My Family" brings meaningful stories about the love of grandparents, parents, and siblings; the book series "Healthier Baby" helps parents convey health information: Why do we need vaccinations? Also in the picture book series, Tre Publishing House has just released an interesting book series called “Long stories about cats”, including 2 books “Blindfolded Cat Catcher” and “Cat Chasing Mouse”, introducing Vietnamese folk games and nursery rhymes. For older age groups, there are many literary books, in which it is easy to see the priority given to works by domestic authors. We can mention the outstanding novel “Autobiography of a Pig” by writer Ly Lan; the short story collection “Let’s Tiptoe” by writer Nguyen My Nu; the essay collection “Father’s Fairy Tale” by writer Phi Tan; “Dong Vang Valley” by writer Trung Sy, “Treasure in the City” by author Nguyen Khac Cuong; a set of 3 short story collections including prose works written for children before the August Revolution by writer Tham Tam with “The Turtle Carrying Parrots” including fairy tales, “Two Jasmine Trees” including fairy tales, and “Water Dragon” a collection of historical stories.

Not only literature books, but also books on science, skills, and career guidance are renewed. Tre Publishing House introduces “Fascinating stories about tigers that no one has told”, the book series “Journey of Discovery ”, the comic series “Famous Vietnamese historical figures”, the series “Sowing the seeds of personality”… Meanwhile, Kim Dong Publishing House brings readers a diverse amount of knowledge in “Dictionary of traditional Vietnamese culture”, the series “Vietnamese dialects”, the series “Who are they?”, the work “Travel into the world of medicine from ancient times to the present”…

Along with the launch of new or reprinted books, there are many reading activities, fun interactions, book fairs with many incentives for children, such as the program "Children's Book Fair - Summer Discovery" by Dinh Ti books, "Summer Gifts" by Thai Ha books, "Happy Children's Day - Bustling Summer" at Hanoi Book Street. In particular, Kim Dong Publishing House launched the "Summer Reading Corner" series every Saturday morning (from May 27 to August 26) at Kim Dong Publishing House headquarters (55 Quang Trung, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi) for children from 3 to 11 years old. The Publishing House hopes that children will have an interesting experience when reading books of many genres such as poetry, stories, science books, knowledge, skills... with the guidance of writers, poets, artists, editors through interesting topics designed to suit each age. This series of books includes “Let's step into the world of fairy tales”, “15 tips to help me stay safe this summer”, “Put down your phone!”, “The wonderful universe”, “Science in an egg”, “Learn about the human body”, “Angry like a lion - Helping children learn the concept and how to eliminate negative emotions”...
