Flower Island is often known as the cherry blossom “paradise” of the province, located in the middle of the vast waters of Pa Khoang Lake, Pa Khoang Commune. There is no need to go to faraway Japan, traveling to Dien Bien in early spring, visitors will have the opportunity to admire the charming, brilliant beauty and capture wonderful moments with cherry blossoms. Japanese cherry blossom season usually lasts for 2 months, the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival is the time when the flowers bloom most beautifully.

In recent days, many people and tourists have come to the flower island to visit and admire the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Coming to the flower island for the first time when the flowers are in full bloom, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay, a tourist from Da Nang city, expressed her amazement at the pure, fragile beauty of the cherry blossoms. “I didn’t think I could see an entire island of cherry blossoms in the middle of the majestic mountains and forests of Dien Bien . It’s really beautiful, absolutely beautiful. The cherry blossoms with their gentle pink color bring a sense of peace and gentleness. Coming here, I seem to be able to shake off all the pressure when immersed in this poetic scene. My family and I will definitely return to the flower island, to Dien Bien in the near future" - Ms. Bay excitedly shared.

Ms. Pham Thi Thu, Nam Thanh Ward (Dien Bien Phu City) shared: I brought my relatives from Hanoi to visit the flower island; everyone was delighted by the beauty here, with mountains, lakes, and flowers. All of them create a poetic and romantic scene. It is known that the 2025 Cherry Blossom Festival will take place on January 11-12, so my extended family and I will come back here to immerse ourselves in the festival atmosphere, admire the cherry blossoms, and enjoy the cuisine and culture of the Thai, Kho Mu, and Mong ethnic groups.

Not only tourists but also the people of Pa Khoang commune look forward to the Cherry Blossom Festival. Because the festival is not only an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature but also an opportunity to promote and introduce the traditional cultural beauty and unique cuisine of the Kho Mu, Thai, Mong ethnic groups to tourists and develop the local economy. Many months ago, women in Keo village embroidered new clothes for themselves to attend the festival. Ms. Lo Thi Tam, Keo village shared: Every year, women in the village prepare 3 months in advance, sew and embroider ethnic costumes by themselves. If anyone does not know how, they will ask the elders for instructions, then sew by themselves. The cherry blossoms bloom once a year, we look forward to it very much.

Mr. Quàng Văn Thanh, Head of Keo village, Pa Khoang commune, said: Right from when the Commune People's Committee sent the plan to organize the Cherry Blossom Festival in 2025, the village has been propagating to the people about the festival in village meetings, Party cell activities, and on loudspeakers. Mobilizing people to clean up the environment in the village, the road to the flower island, prepare typical products of the Khmu ethnic group to display at the festival booths; practicing performing arts... When being propagandized about the Festival, everyone eagerly awaited and people also shared images of cherry blossoms, information about the festival via social networks such as zalo, facebook...

The Cherry Blossom Festival - Dien Bien Phu 2025 with the theme "Spring in Muong Village - Cherry Blossoms in Bloom" will be held on January 11-12, 2025 on the flower island. In addition to the main activities, such as the opening ceremony and art performances, there will be 30 booths displaying OCOP products, cultural, tourism and culinary products; cultural spaces of the three ethnic groups Thai, Mong and Kho Mu with the highlight of introducing traditional ethnic cultural features such as bamboo and rattan weaving, blacksmithing and weaving. In addition, the Festival also organizes a culinary competition "Fragrance of Dien Bien" and cultural and sports exchange activities with pole pushing, tug of war, stilt walking, kayaking. Invite visitors from near and far to the flower island to admire the brilliant and charming beauty of pure cherry blossoms and immerse themselves in cultural, culinary and sports exchange and competition activities.
