Sa Pa Town, Lao Cai Province has implemented the Project to build a "Clean Sa Pa" urban area in the period of 2023 - 2025 with a vision to 2030. After 4 weeks of launching the Clean Sunday movement for a bright - green - clean Sa Pa, it has spread to all roads, attracting the participation of all classes of people.
The implementation of the Project to build a "Clean Sa Pa" urban area of Sa Pa town aims to raise awareness and responsibility for law enforcement, implementing a civilized urban lifestyle, having cultural awareness and behavior when participating in traffic, implementing urban beautification, ensuring social order and safety and environmental protection... creating an emulation movement at all levels, sectors and among the entire population, contributing to promoting economic, cultural and social development, improving the quality of life of people, building a "Clean Sa Pa" urban area, striving by 2025 Sa Pa to be one of the three localities with the most "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful" natural environment and urban space in the country.
Sa Pa Town has propagated and requested agencies, units, businesses, schools; restaurants, hotels, People's Committees of communes, wards, tourist attractions, villages, residential groups and all people in the area to join hands in cleaning, clearing, collecting and treating waste, garbage, and clearing sewers to ensure environmental hygiene in living, working and business areas.
Implement well the classification of waste at source, dump waste on time, in the right place; proactively beautify the landscape of village roads, alleys, tourist areas and spots to create model streets, install lighting systems, appropriate decorations, do not encroach on sidewalks, roadsides, park and park vehicles in violation of regulations; self-organize the dismantling of canopies, awnings,... construction works that violate construction order...
Aiming for the goal: 100% of organizations, businesses, individuals, and households ensure environmental sanitation, do not encroach on roads and sidewalks, obstruct traffic, place illegal advertising signs, or cause loss of urban and rural beauty; 100% of roads and streets are regularly swept, alleys and commune centers are swept by people and teams 2 days/week, arrange garbage stations, trash bins at appropriate distances, collection sites, and waste treatment plants.

100% of streets and routes are streamlined, electric wires and telecommunication wires are collected; excess and unused electric poles are collected and moved; 100% of streets and routes have advertisements, chandeliers, and night sounds that are appropriate and in accordance with regulations; 100% of service vehicles are equipped with fare meters, price lists, badges, logos, and are trained in civilized and polite behavior, limiting horn honking in urban areas, especially at night.
Every year, about 10,000 new trees are planted throughout the town, focusing on renovating and replacing urban trees and landscape trees along national and provincial highways, with a ratio appropriate to each area and soil.
Strive for each phase from 2025 to 2030 for each commune and ward to build at least 01 flower garden, park, entertainment area, and sports training area for people and tourists; 100% of begging, soliciting, and street vending are eliminated.
Put up signs for free sanitation in the area.
Choose every Sunday as "Clean Sunday" to carry out garbage collection, general cleaning of neighborhoods and inner-city roads, parks, small parks and central flower gardens every Sunday.
On all the roads of 16 communes and wards of Sa Pa town, the environmental sanitation movement has been strongly spread to all classes of people, including ethnic minorities: Mong, Dao, Tay, Giay, Xa Pho living in the area.
Thousands of people have joined hands for a bright - green - clean - beautiful Sa Pa. The movement has not only developed in the central streets where many restaurants, hotels and tourism service businesses are concentrated, but has also spread to all the roads in the villages and hamlets.
Directly, the team of cadres, civil servants, and public employees at agencies, units, schools, police forces, military forces, etc. actively participate with the people in collecting and classifying waste, clearing sewers, and cutting grass to gradually bring a new look to the roads.
The project to build a "Clean Sa Pa" urban area has now not only stopped at a movement but has become a beautiful lifestyle, gradually building awareness and habits of the people, and is a regular activity on thousands of roads leading to the villages of Sa Pa.
After nearly a month of active implementation, pollution black spots have been reduced, many environmental issues have been resolved, and people's quality of life has been improved. This creates the premise for Sa Pa to develop sustainable tourism, worthy of being a national tourist area of international stature./.
