Aryna Sabalenka confirmed her world No. 1 status with her second consecutive US Open title.

The world No. 1 has dominated the WTA rankings throughout 2025, and continued to mark a memorable milestone by winning the US Open. The final opened with the advantage in favor of Sabalenka.

The Belarusian player won 9 of the first 11 points, easily dominating set 1. In set 2, Anisimova, the American player, played more steadily but still could not create a surprise and lost after the tiebreak.

By winning the US Open, Sabalenka became the first female tennis player to defend the championship of this tournament since Serena Williams in 2014. The 27-year-old tennis player also ended an impressive year with a Grand Slam title in the US.

Sabalenka has won four of her last 11 Grand Slam tournaments over the past three years, adding to her three finals. After losing two Grand Slam finals earlier this year, winning the US Open was a well-deserved reward for Sabalenka.

This was also her 100th win at Grand Slam tournaments, with an impressive winning percentage of 79.4%, second only to Iga Swiatek among active female players.
