"When I said I wanted to buy this book, I was told it was not available. There were only 250 copies printed," Associate Professor Dr. Tran Duc Cuong said, unable to hide his regret.
The scientific basis for determining the outer limits of Vietnam's continental shelf according to the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea later received the A prize of the 2023 National Book Award. The book was written by experts in marine geology and geophysics, including: Prof. Dr. Bui Cong Que (editor-in-chief), Dr. Phung Van Phach, Dr. Do Huy Cuong, Dr. Tran Tuan Dung, Dr. Le Duc Anh (Natural Science and Technology Publishing House). This book is extremely useful to Associate Professor Dr. Cuong, but until now he has not had the opportunity to own it.
" The work shows issues about the East Sea, about sovereignty in the East Sea from the perspective of geology and the law of the sea. We, the Vietnam Historical Science Association, are very interested in that issue. Previously, the book about the East Sea by Dr. Tran Cong Truc also had a perspective of territorial borders," said Associate Professor Dr. Cuong.
With a National Book Award, in addition to finding good works to honor, there is also another impact of promoting book making and reading culture. Therefore, how a book that has won the National Book Award reaches readers is equally important. That means the work of an award does not stop at the award ceremony, but also after the award.

Perhaps it is time, in the mechanism of the National Book Award, or the activities supporting the National Book Award from ministries and local branches, to promote dissemination. It can even be considered a part of the award that bookmakers receive. For example, books that win the National Book Award in the children's book category will be supported by the state to be printed and given to libraries; research books will be supported to be printed and given to a number of related units. Or perhaps, there could be a separate fund to support the dissemination of award-winning books like this. Regarding this, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Duc Cuong also agreed. "If that were possible, it would be great," said Mr. Cuong.
