Salah continues to stick with Anfield. |
In an interview on Liverpool's homepage on the afternoon of April 11, Salah shared: "I am very excited. We have a strong squad. I signed a new contract with the club because I believe we have the opportunity to win more titles and I want to continue enjoying football here."
"This is where I spent the best years of my career. I am happy to stay and hope to achieve more success with the fans," the Egyptian striker said at the time Liverpool announced the extension.
The Telegraph revealed that Salah's new contract with Liverpool is estimated to be worth up to £50 million over two years, equivalent to around £25 million per season. After negotiations with Liverpool's sporting director, Richard Hughes, Salah officially signed the new contract.
The most important clauses in the contract include a number of performance-based bonuses, which are usually triggered by the player's ability to score at least 20 goals per season. From the beginning, both parties expressed their desire to reach an agreement to keep the Egyptian star at the club.
However, Liverpool stressed that the new contract needed to fit their financial structure, saving costs to ensure resources to strengthen the squad in the summer transfer window of 2025. Despite the opportunity to receive a higher salary in Saudi Arabia, Salah decided to stay at Liverpool to pursue his ambitions in the Premier League and Champions League.
Besides Salah, the future of two other pillars, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is also the focus of attention, as their contracts expire this summer. Van Dijk is also expected to sign a new contract in the near future, while Real Madrid has almost got the nod from Alexander-Arnold.
