On the morning of April 4, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs coordinated with the City Department of Tourism to organize the "Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Job Fair 2025."

The event attracted more than 30 businesses in the fields of travel, restaurants, hotels and 12 tourism training institutions (from intermediate to university) to participate in recruiting more than 1,200 jobs and creating conditions for final year tourism students to do internships and training.

According to Ms. Nguyen Van Hanh Thuc, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Employment Service Center (under the City Department of Home Affairs), the City's tourism job fair is an opportunity for employers of new and potential labor sources to exchange and share experiences in the development trend of the tourism industry. This is also an opportunity for students and workers to experience and find jobs suitable for their major.

"The highlight of this year's job fair is also the connection between service businesses and tourism training institutions; thereby improving the quality of human resources in the tourism industry. The job fair is also a practical activity to support tourism service businesses in recruiting personnel; support tourism training institutions in providing high-quality labor, meeting the needs of recruiting units... ", Ms. Nguyen Van Hanh Thuc shared.

Participating in the job fair, Mr. Lance Navarra Leong, Operations Manager of SOL by Meliá Phu Quoc Resort ( Kien Giang Province), said that there is a need to recruit many positions in the reception, restaurant, and hotel departments to prepare for the peak summer tourist season, with priority given to interns. From there, both employers and employees have time to exchange and share knowledge and experience in the work.

In addition to the regimes and policies prescribed by law, the unit also has welfare policies, accommodation, meals and air tickets for employees from other provinces and cities outside Kien Giang to work. Interns will be supported up to 3 million VND and will be recruited directly to work without going through a probationary period.

“In particular, working at SOL by Meliá Phu Quoc, students and employees have many opportunities for career advancement due to the professionalism according to international standards; the opportunity to interact and work with more than 90% of foreigners. However, employees need to be disciplined, comply with rules and regulations, be willing to learn, improve knowledge, skills, and expertise…”, Mr. Lance Navarra Leong emphasized.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thao, Deputy Head of Human Resources at Crowne Plaza Hotel, said that they are recruiting 30 interns to work on Phu Quoc Island (Kien Giang Province). Interns will be supported with 2 million VND/month; at the same time, they will be provided with accommodation, daily meals and means of transportation for work. To attract young candidates to work, Crowne Plaza Hotel has implemented many preferential policies aimed at new graduates. In particular, from the first month, students will receive a business service fee allowance, creating additional income during the internship ranging from 3-8 million VND/month.

"However, recruiting young staff still faces many difficulties. One of the major obstacles is the fear of changing the living environment of many young people. They often tend to choose to work in big cities - where there are many development opportunities, or return to their hometown to be closer to their families, instead of going to far away places...", Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thao shared.

Present at the tourism job fair early, Chau Anh Huy, a student from Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT), just graduated and wanted to learn about hotel management, reception, bartending and human resource management...

According to Chau Anh Huy, domestic and foreign tourists have returned in increasing numbers since COVID-19. Recruitment demand from hotel and tourism businesses and units is quite high with attractive salaries of 8-12 million/month and will be higher later.

“Because I just graduated, I need to continue to improve, learn, and gain practical experience to improve my skills and expertise. I also hope that there will be more forums, festivals, or specialized job exchanges so that students have the opportunity to access jobs, connect with businesses, and find jobs that match their major…”, Chau Anh Huy confided.

At the job fair, many businesses said they needed to recruit workers with basic English communication skills. Some positions require intermediate, college or university degrees, depending on the specific nature of the job. Income levels will be negotiated based on the candidate's ability and experience.

For students, businesses believe that even though it is only an internship, this is a valuable opportunity for tourism students to quickly approach a professional working environment. Having practical experience and practicing skills at businesses not only helps improve professional skills, but also creates a solid foundation for future career development..../.
