National Press Festival 2025: Looking back on 100 years of accompanying the nation

On June 19, the 2025 National Press Festival with the theme "Vietnamese Press - Loyalty, Creativity, Courage, Innovation for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland" opened at the National Convention Center ( Hanoi ).

Attending the opening ceremony were Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia, along with representatives of leaders and former leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and mass organizations; leaders of People's Committees of provinces and cities; leaders of press agencies, the Vietnam Journalists Association , members, journalists and the public.

A mirror reflecting the aspirations of society

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the Vietnamese revolutionary press has gone through a historical journey associated with the sacred mission: Accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, the press is truly the voice of the Party and the State, a trusted forum for the People; a strong bridge between the Party's will and the People's hearts; a mirror reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of the whole society; a place to spread humanistic values, promote beauty and rightness, resolutely fight against evil and wrongness; take the lead in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fight against and refute erroneous and hostile views; and light up the People's belief in the path to socialism led by the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that this year's Press Festival is a vivid symbol of the spirit of inheritance and development: From the space displaying the rich history of journalism, to the exhibitions of press documents, press products, and applications of new technology, all have vividly demonstrated the journey of development from tradition to modernity, from print, electronic, spoken, visual newspapers to multi-platform journalism, from "pen, paper" to "artificial intelligence and big data"...

The rapid development of technology is dramatically changing all areas of life, posing opportunities and challenges for Vietnam's revolutionary press. Our Party and State are vigorously implementing the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus of agencies, units and localities, including the press system.

In order for the revolutionary press to fulfill its responsibilities to the Fatherland and the people, the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission noted that each press agency and each journalist must always consciously study and improve their professional knowledge; maintain and promote political mettle, be determined to innovate more strongly; increase the application of technology, especially digital transformation and artificial intelligence to change the process of production, distribution and access to press information.

“We must use innovation as a driving force and technology as a tool to elevate Vietnamese journalism. Moreover, we must boldly innovate from within – innovate the thinking of journalism leadership, innovate the editorial model, innovate the method of content production and distribution, and innovate the relationship between journalism and the public,” Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized.

Accordingly, the press needs to deepen its role in social criticism, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, promoting solidarity, creating consensus, strongly arousing patriotism and national pride, inspiring and aspirant to contribute, contributing to bringing the country firmly into a new era, an era of wealth, civilization, prosperity and national growth.

Innovation for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland

The 2025 National Press Festival, organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and other ministries, sectors and localities under the direction of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, is a practical activity towards major holidays and an event of special significance commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

The event has many new features with modern exhibition and display activities, along with rich and attractive cultural and artistic programs. With 130 booths displaying unique and typical press publications of more than 124 central press agencies and all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

This year, the 2025 National Press Festival has dedicated a central space to display the theme “100 years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press: Achievements and trends in press development in the new era.” The organizing committee has collected, selected, and digitized more than 500 images, artifacts, and valuable documents reflecting the 100-year journey of formation and development of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.

The 2025 National Press Festival also brings to the public, journalists and members quality professional activities through: The 2nd National Press Forum with 10 discussion sessions and 2 opening and closing sessions on hot topics of interest to the press.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, said that the 2025 National Press Festival has the theme "Loyal, Creative, Courageous, Innovative Vietnamese Press for the Cause of Building and Protecting the Fatherland".

According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the theme of the 2025 National Press Festival "Vietnamese Press - Loyal, Creative, Courageous, Innovative for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland" is also a guideline for journalists to continue their noble mission in the period when the country is striving to enter a new era.

All the elements: Loyalty, Creativity, Courage, and Innovation are aimed at the highest goal "for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland." The press must be the pioneer force in spreading good values, promoting patriotism and national unity, contributing to creating a combined strength for our country to increasingly develop and prosper and firmly protect independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Also at the opening ceremony, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia and representatives of departments, ministries and branches signed to issue a special stamp set commemorating the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day; signed the stamp painting commemorating the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and presented it to the Vietnam Journalists Association./.

Topics discussed at the National Press Forum: Vietnamese press in the new era: Vision for creating development space; Female leaders in journalism: Women's voices in news management; Conquering Gen Z readers: Decoding the formula for success; Artificial intelligence and digital transformation strategies of Vietnamese press offices; Data journalism in Vietnamese news offices; Television adapts to the new media environment; What mechanism for radio to develop in the current period?; Revenue sources in the digital age: Not just advertising, newspapers must sell more!; Personalizing content to keep readers loyal; Resolution 18 and the requirement for innovation in press personnel. The forums were attended by speakers and experts who are prestigious domestic and international journalists.

In addition, the 2025 National Press Festival also has sideline activities, including the 4th Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper Cup Football Tournament and experiential activities, entertainment, and cultural and artistic performances at the exhibition booths.

Within the framework of the Press Festival, the Organizing Committee will organize voting and awarding for impressive exhibition booths, impressive events, activities and impressive press products with diverse types of press.
