On the afternoon of March 7 (local time), in Berlin (Germany), Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh chaired a press conference to introduce Vietnamese tourism at the International Tourism Fair ITB Berlin 2023.
This is an important activity of Vietnam tourism to update information on the situation of activities, diverse products and services; at the same time, it is an opportunity to connect with international businesses and partners, contributing to the recovery and promotion of the tourist market, attracting tourists to Vietnam.
At the press conference, General Director Nguyen Trung Khanh said that since March 15, 2022, Vietnam is the first country in Southeast Asia to fully reopen tourism. During the months after opening, the number of searches for Vietnam tourism on Google has continuously increased sharply. In 2022, Vietnam welcomed 101 million domestic tourists; 3.5 million international tourists; total tourism revenue reached 21.6 billion USD. Of which, European tourists reached 365,000, German tourists reached 59,900, the second largest source market in Europe. The goal in 2023 is for Vietnam to welcome 8 million international tourists and total tourism revenue reached about 28.4 billion USD.
According to the General Director, Vietnam tourism has been focusing on restructuring the market, innovating products towards diversification, increasing competitiveness and attractiveness in the market, while resuming and opening more international flights to target markets such as Europe, the US, Australia and India.
The General Director affirmed that Vietnam is ready to welcome international tourists back to fully experience a vibrant Vietnam with beautiful natural landscapes, sunny beaches, a rich culture, friendly and hospitable people and delicious cuisine .
Emphasizing that cooperation and association are key strategies to restore and develop tourism, the General Director said that the Vietnamese tourism industry will continue to work closely with airlines to facilitate tourists coming to Vietnam, strengthen cooperation with tourism trade partners and the media to bring the beautiful image of Vietnam closer to international friends, especially the European market.
Also on the afternoon of March 7, the General Department of Tourism opened the Vietnam General Pavilion. With an area of 450m2, the Vietnam General Pavilion is designed in an open space with the highlight being 3 unique and impressive models of Khue Van Cac ( Hanoi ), Chua Cau (Hoi An), Ben Thanh Market (Ho Chi Minh City) which are 3 famous and iconic tourist destinations, representing 3 regions, along with many promotional images of attractive and unique tourism products of Vietnam such as: high-end resort tourism, eco-tourism, adventure tourism, health care tourism, cuisine...
Another highlight of this year's booth is the introduction of the National Tourism Year 2023 with the theme "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence" aiming at green products, clean energy, creating a friendly and safe environment for health, preserving and promoting cultural heritages, good traditional values of the nation, and realizing the goal of sustainable development. There will be a series of exciting events and activities taking place throughout the year to widely promote Vietnamese tourism to international friends.
Within the framework of the press conference, the Vietnamese delegation provided the latest information on the Vietnamese tourism situation, new products, services, destinations, marketing plans, and cooperation with the European market in the new context./.
