(Baoquangngai.vn)- Dung Quat Oil Refinery officially stopped operating on March 15 to conduct its fifth general maintenance. This general maintenance period includes 10 projects; of which 6 main projects are carried out by joint ventures of domestic and international contractors and 4 projects are carried out by Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company ( BSR ).
The implementation of the 5th Overall Maintenance (MA) of Dung Quat Oil Refinery (NMLD) is considered a key task of BSR in 2024 with an expected implementation time of 48 days, meeting 4 goals: Safety, quality, progress and cost optimization.
The safety target is no accidents causing lost work hours, fire, explosion, security. The quality target is no leakage incidents, no work to be redone in the next 4 years of operation. The progress target is to ensure the approved progress. Finally, the cost target is not to exceed the approved cost, striving to reduce costs by 5 - 10%.

Preparation work for the 5th general maintenance of Dung Quat Refinery. |
Currently, the preparation work for the 5th BDTT has been completed, such as developing and submitting for approval KPIs, organizational chart for the preparation of the 5th BDTT, building a list of work, separating the volume of materials/services and costs, purchasing goods and services, contractor selection plan and implementation plan. During this maintenance period, BSR and contractors will perform maintenance of 546 static mechanical equipment, 977 pipeline equipment, 67 mechanical equipment, 275 electrical equipment, 3,195 automation equipment and 67 improvement projects (MOC) and 7 Tie-in projects.
In the 5th BDTT, BSR will implement 6 main service projects related to static mechanical equipment and pipelines by a consortium of contractors and external services; 4 projects related to electrical equipment, rotating equipment, automation and valve disassembly and assembly will be implemented by BSR, in addition to 1 ICS project and 1 chemical flushing project during the shutdown period. With more than 14 contractors, more than 135 experts (Manufacturers, copyrighters and design consultants, independent inspection and consulting, maintenance supervision) at home and abroad participating in the implementation with BSR.

Maintenance of single point mooring (SPM) oil filler buoy. |
The “critical progress path” of the 5th BDTT of Dung Quat NMLD will include major tasks such as repairing/replacing airing in the RFCC area (Catalytic Cracking Workshop); replacing slive valve; replacing Center pipe in the regeneration tower; converting/improving the T-1107 tower; overhauling important compressors... Accordingly, the technical solution that BSR is oriented to apply in this 5th BDTT is the solution of pre-fabricating the suction pipe system and increasing the capacity of the hot catalyst suction machine at the RFCC workshop; the solution of designing and installing a layered scaffolding to perform parallel work in the regeneration towers and reaction towers of the RFCC workshop; applying 3D/4D simulation solutions in the process of building construction methods for dismantling, maintaining and repairing equipment...
Among the 10 projects of the 5th general maintenance of Dung Quat Oil Refinery, project 6 is the maintenance project of the single-point mooring (SPM) oil spill buoy, which is a complex work item, working in seawater and windy environment. Project 6 is the first project to be deployed (March 11) and also completed the first task in this general maintenance (expected March 30).
The SPM buoy is an important peripheral item, where crude oil is received to serve Dung Quat Oil Refinery's production. The SPM buoy weighs 360 tons, is 10 meters high, and includes plem systems, a 3.2 km long underground pipeline to carry crude oil to the plant, and two 242 m long floating pipelines to connect from the oil pouring buoy to the crude oil tanker.
Project 6 is implemented by the Joint Venture of Quang Ngai Petroleum Services Joint Stock Company ( PTSC Quang Ngai) and Petroleum College.
BSR General Director Bui Ngoc Duong requested contractors and BSR to properly implement the work plan, overcome weather difficulties to complete the project on schedule, ensuring safety and quality.
It is known that after this 5th general maintenance period, Dung Quat Oil Refinery will increase the time between general maintenance periods to 4 years - in sync with the upgrading and expansion project being implemented.
