SPL-S7: 12 teams compete

After much anticipation, the 2025 Dragon Cup 7-a-side football championship - Southern region (SPL-S7) will officially kick off on the afternoon of May 24 at Gia Dinh Stadium (2A Phan Chu Trinh Street, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).

A total of 12 participating clubs will compete in a round robin with each opponent to calculate the final ranking points, selecting the 2 best names to participate in the national final round, with the most promising candidate being An Bien FC - who set a record of 11 consecutive wins to win the Southern region championship.

On behalf of VietFootball Company, Mr. Tran Huy Duc - Member of the VFF Executive Committee and Deputy Director of VietFootball Company - sent greetings to the 12 clubs that performed excellently in the 2024 season and the SPL-S7 play-off round to win the right to participate in SPL-S7.

Mr. Tran Huy Duc said: "Thank you to the bosses, coaches and players who have joined hands with VietFootball to build the 6th season of VPL and the 7th season of SPL. This year, we focus on organization and professional work, ensuring that the clubs only focus on competition.

You don't have to worry or think about the standards of the field, the way of operation, supervision, referees, media... VietFootball always has a spirit of learning, wanting to listen to the opinions and contributions from the clubs. Because in this playground, the main characters are still the teams and the players."

In the technical meeting on May 21, the Organizing Committee and 12 participating clubs answered questions about 7-a-side football rules, regulations, competition uniforms, etc. From there, all confirmed the rules of the tournament. Notably, this year the tournament will see former Vietnamese player Nguyen Tuan Phong appear as the head coach of Dien Bach Khoa - Ninh Thuan Club.

SPL-S7 takes place from May 24 to July 12 at Gia Dinh Stadium. In addition to the championship trophy, gold medals and honor roll, the champion team will receive 80 million VND in prize money. The prizes for the runner-up, third-place and style winners are 40 million VND, 20 million VND and 10 million VND respectively.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded additional titles, including the Referee Team that completed its tasks excellently, the Player with the most goals, the Best Goalkeeper, the Best Player and the Best Coach - each award worth 5 million VND.
