DTO - Implementing the restructuring of the agricultural sector in association with the construction of new rural areas (NTM), the situation of agricultural, forestry and fishery production in the first 9 months of 2023 continued to develop stably, agricultural products were consumed favorably, and many advanced production models were replicated. The value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production is estimated at 38,132 billion VND, an increase of 3% over the same period in 2022 (equivalent to an increase of 1,115 billion VND), reaching 77.61% of the 2023 plan.

Accordingly, the crop cultivation sector grew quite well, with an estimated production value of VND 23,111 billion, up 5.7% over the same period in 2022, reaching 77.6% of the plan. Due to increased production area, stable consumption market, and high selling prices, the rice industry grew slightly compared to the same period last year, with an estimated production value of VND 12,767 billion, up 3.6% (equivalent to VND 440 billion).

Crops were planted well, the production area increased by 17.5% compared to the same period last year, the profit of some main agricultural products (lotus, sweet potato, corn...) was higher than the same period last year. The production value of the industry was estimated at 2,714 billion VND, an increase of 14.5% compared to the same period last year (equivalent to an increase of 343 billion VND).

The area of ornamental flower cultivation continued to expand by 33% compared to the same period last year, the production value of the industry is estimated at 3,973 billion VND, an increase of 12.1% over the same period in 2022 (equivalent to an increase of 427 billion VND). In particular, the area of fruit trees increased by 5.45% over the same period in 2022, however, the profit of some key fruits: mango, longan, lemon, tangerine... decreased compared to the same period due to increased production costs, while the selling price is not high, the total production value of this industry is estimated at 3,656 billion VND, down 1% over the same period in 2022.

According to statistics, the total herd of livestock and poultry grew quite well (except for the buffalo herd). The total output of fresh meat for sale increased by 9.56% over the same period last year. The production value of the livestock industry is estimated at VND 2,065 billion, up 11.3% over the same period in 2022, reaching 72.2% of the plan.

In the first months of the year, the aquaculture area is estimated at 5,800 hectares, down 5.74% over the same period, the harvested output is estimated at 471,300 tons, up 3.49% over the same period in 2022. Pangasius output alone decreased by 5.6%. The production value of the aquatic products industry is estimated at 10,240 billion VND, down 4.4% over the same period in 2022, reaching 75.9% of the plan, of which the pangasius industry contributed 60.5%. The whole province currently has 377 pangasius farming facilities with identification codes with an area of 1,624 hectares of water surface, of which 80 facilities are granted food safety certificates with an area of 670.4 hectares; 38 facilities apply and are certified for VietGap, GlobalGap, ASC, BAP standards with an area of 242.4 hectares.

Currently, the province's OCOP products are increasingly diverse in design, packaging, and quality is gradually improving. Up to now, the whole province has 357 products recognized as 3-5 star OCOP products. Of these, 275 products have 3 stars, 81 products have 4 stars and 1 product has 5 stars. There are 3 products being proposed for 5-star recognition. There are currently 212 products proposed for recognition as meeting OCOP product standards (63 products re-evaluated, 3 products upgraded, 146 new products).

In the first 9 months of 2023, 6 more communes were recognized as meeting NTM standards and 8 communes were recognized as meeting advanced NTM standards. Up to now, the whole province has 109 communes meeting NTM standards (reaching 94.78%) and 18 communes meeting advanced NTM standards, 3 units have completed the new rural tasks (Sa Dec City, Cao Lanh City and Hong Ngu City), 2 districts have met NTM standards (Thap Muoi District and Cao Lanh District).

Aiming to promote the value of agricultural production, in recent times, the province has had many effective agricultural production models associated with circular economy and green economy that can be replicated such as: model of reducing rice production costs; reducing the amount of seeds sown and increasing the rate of using certified seeds; cultivating mangoes in the harvest season that meet the conditions for safe production; building and replicating a model of linking and mechanizing rice seed production associated with traceability of 100 hectares; organic agriculture development project; project to build a model of lotus production associated with tourism development according to the value chain...
