Pay more attention to the US investment environment

According to a press release from the Ministry of Finance, this afternoon, May 8, at the Ministry of Finance headquarters, Minister Nguyen Van Thang had a meeting and worked with US Ambassador Marc E. Knapper.

Also attending the meeting were representatives of leaders of a number of functional units under the Ministry of Finance such as the Tax Department, the Customs Department, the Department of Debt Management and Foreign Economic Relations, the Department of Foreign Investment, the Department of Tax Policy, and the Department of State Enterprise Development.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang thanked Ambassador Knapper and the US Embassy in Vietnam for their active support over the past time. At the same time, Mr. Thang affirmed that this is clear evidence that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the US is increasingly developing substantially and effectively.

Minister Nguyen Van Thang said that, as assigned by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance was assigned to lead the delegation to attend the SelectUSA 2025 Investment Summit taking place from May 11 to 14 in Maryland, USA.

This is one of the key activities to promote Vietnam - US trade and investment relations.

The Vietnamese delegation attending this conference has the largest number of registrations ever, showing that Vietnamese businesses are increasingly interested in the US investment environment and want to increase their presence in this market.

Need fairness, mutual benefit

In addition to attending and chairing activities at the SelectUSA Conference, Minister Nguyen Van Thang said the delegation will work with US authorities and leading associations and businesses in fields such as semiconductors, high technology, startups, banking, green finance and digital.

Through these activities, the Vietnamese Government wants to convey a message of its determination to promote bilateral economic and trade relations in a fair, mutually beneficial and sustainable manner, in the context of the world witnessing profound changes in global trade policies and environment.

Speaking at the reception, Ambassador Knapper was pleased to learn that the Vietnamese delegation had an impressive number of delegates attending the SelectUSA 2025 Investment Summit.

Such great interest and enthusiasm for participation represent an important moment in the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the United States, as 2025 will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This will be a great opportunity to seek ways to further deepen the economic and investment relationship between Vietnam and the United States.

Over the past time, Vietnam and the US have witnessed remarkable developments in bilateral relations, especially since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023.

Minister Nguyen Van Thang expressed his belief that with the ambassador's central role, together with the close coordination of relevant parties, we will together foster an effective, substantive and long-term future of economic and trade cooperation.
