This year's theme chosen by the United Nations is Wonder: Sustaining What Sustains Us, a powerful inspirational message that arouses the shared responsibility to preserve the ocean, calling for coordinated activities between countries and organizations to protect marine ecosystems for all humanity in the context of the ocean facing serious challenges due to climate change and human impacts.
In Vietnam, the Sea and Islands Week is held from June 1 to 8 every year. This is an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its great potential in the marine economy, demonstrate its determination to comprehensively develop the marine industry, protect resources and the environment of the sea and islands sustainably. This year, with the theme "Green technology for sustainable ocean", it further affirms the strategic orientation of developing the marine economy associated with the application of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. This is an opportunity for all levels, sectors, localities and the whole society to look back at the great potential of the ocean, at the same time properly assess the challenges, thereby shaping specific actions for the goal of a green, clean and rich ocean.
