Quang Ninh: Stop operating cruise ships for passengers using disposable plastic products

The above behavior violated the regulations in the contract on anchoring and operating at ports, wharves, and waters in Ha Long Bay (including Bai Tu Long Bay) signed between the Ha Long Bay Management Board and Bui Van Thuy Business Household (owner of the tourist boat Thinh An 88, QN-8618). Therefore, the Ha Long Bay Management Board has temporarily suspended the implementation of the contract on anchoring and operating at ports, wharves, and waters in Ha Long Bay (including Bai Tu Long Bay) for this tourist boat for 7 days from May 24-30).

Ha Long Bay has been recognized as a World Natural Heritage three times. To achieve this title, since September 1, 2019, the Ha Long Bay Management Board has implemented a program to reduce plastic waste in the Ha Long Bay area with the content "Do not use disposable plastic products in service and tourism activities on Ha Long Bay". Organizations and individuals operating tourism and service activities on the bay must commit to not using or selling disposable plastic products (cups, straws, boxes, bowls, plates, plastic bags, etc.); replace them with environmentally friendly products; refuse to transport customers who deliberately do not comply with this regulation.

This is a drastic action by the Ha Long Bay Management Board against vehicles operating in the bay that have violated the environment, landscape and regulations on conservation and protection of Heritage previously issued by relevant agencies.

Along with Ha Long Bay, Co To island district has requested tourists not to bring plastic bags and single-use plastic products to the island in recent years and has received the agreement of the people and tourists. This place is spreading the culture of saying no to single-use plastic and nylon products to everyone, building a green island district, becoming a safe, friendly destination, with a green, clean and beautiful environment.
