Floods and landslides in many places

In Tuyen Quang, heavy rains caused localized flooding in many areas, affecting people's lives. According to a report from the Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Tuyen Quang province, at least 8 houses were affected by landslides; an auxiliary building of Xuan Lam Secondary and Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Lam Binh district) was damaged. In addition, nearly 100 hectares of rice, corn and vegetables in Na Hang and Lam Binh districts were flooded and severely damaged.

In Lao Cai, heavy rains caused flooding and landslides on many major roads, such as National Highway 4E, 4D and Provincial Road 161. Some sections of roads in Lao Cai city, such as Tran Hung Dao extension, Le Thanh, and Cau Xum were deeply flooded, obstructing traffic. Notably, in Y Ty commune (Bat Xat district), floods from upstream swept away the iron bridge on Sim San stream, completely isolating the three villages of Sim San 1, Sim San 2, and Hong Ngai.
In Yen Bai province, heavy rains caused flooding in many places, including Yen Bai city. Water flooded Yen Thinh market, causing trading activities to temporarily stop and goods to be damaged. The industrial park in the south of Yen Bai city was also affected. Authorities have deployed traffic diversion and support for people in deeply flooded areas...
Heavy rain continues
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the evening of May 23 to May 24, the northern provinces and cities will continue to experience moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, and very heavy rain in some places. The rainfall in the Viet Bac and Northeast regions is generally 40-100mm, with some places experiencing more than 200mm; in the Northwest and the Northern Delta regions, it is generally 30-70mm, with some places experiencing more than 120mm.
From the evening of May 23 to the night of May 24, in the North Central region, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, some places will have very heavy rain with common rainfall of 30-80mm, locally higher than 150mm. Prolonged rain will cause soil and rocks to become saturated with water, lose cohesion, and pose a very high risk of landslides and flash floods on steep slopes, along streams, and in residential areas near the foot of mountains.
Many areas in 9 northern mountainous provinces are warned of a very high risk of flash floods and landslides, such as: Muong Te, Nam Nhun, Tam Duong (Lai Chau province); Muong Cha, Tua Chua (Dien Bien province); Bac Yen, Quynh Nhai (Son La province); Sa Pa, Van Ban, Bao Thang (Lao Cai province); Tran Yen, Luc Yen (Yen Bai province); Bac Quang, Quang Binh (Ha Giang province); Chiem Hoa, Na Hang, Tuyen Quang city (Tuyen Quang province)...
To cope with the complicated developments of floods and rains, the authorities have requested localities to urgently review and reinforce vulnerable areas; prepare plans to evacuate people in high-risk areas; proactively warn and block traffic at deep flooded and landslide areas. People are advised not to go out during heavy rains and to closely monitor official weather reports to take timely preventive measures.
