Former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh receives noble medal from Laos

The ceremony to award the Lao State's Freedom Medal (Itxala Medal) to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh took place this afternoon in Hanoi.

According to the decree, the President of Laos decided to award the First Class Order of Freedom (Order of Itxala) to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh for her outstanding contributions in preserving, nurturing and developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam and Vietnam and Laos.

Authorized by General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh respectfully presented the noble medal to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh.

Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh emphasized that the medal is a recognition of the Lao Party, State and people for the important contributions of the former Vice President in consolidating and developing the relationship between the two Parties, two States and people of the two countries.

The Ambassador also conveyed birthday greetings and good health wishes from Lao senior leaders to the former Vice President.

Former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh is one of Vietnam's outstanding and resilient female leaders. She left a deep mark in diplomatic history, especially during the negotiation of the Paris Agreement in 1973.

The Ambassador said that the contributions and dedication of the former Vice President not only helped Vietnam win the resistance war and unify the country, but also contributed to the revolutionary cause of the Lao people.

After peace was restored, in different positions, the former Vice President made positive contributions to fostering Laos - Vietnam relations.

Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people always remember the contributions and dedication of the former Vice President and generations of Vietnamese leaders and people.

Personally, the Ambassador expressed his honor to meet and directly present the noble medal to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh.

Holding the hand of the former Vice President, the Lao Ambassador confided: "Today, my dream has come true. Since I was very young, through books and newspapers, I have admired the career and contributions of the former Vice President. Today, I am honored to have this special meeting."

Former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh expressed her honor to receive the highest medal of Laos and sent her thanks to the Lao Party, State, people and personally General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

This is not only a great honor for me personally, but also a vivid testament to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, which has been diligently preserved and cultivated by generations of leaders of the two Parties, two States and peoples of the two countries - said the former Vice President.
