The reason MU and Chelsea did not recruit Victor Osimhen

After witnessing Osimhen score a hat-trick against Ajax in the Champions League, many people wondered why MU did not sign a contract with the Nigerian striker.

In 2025, Victor Osimhen is only behind Harry Kane (48) and Kylian Mbappe (47) in terms of goals scored in all competitions, with 43 strikes.

Simply put, Osimhen is a natural goalscorer - a top-class hunter on par with Haaland or Harry Kane.

The Nigerian striker has scored more goals than both of the names above in the Champions League this season. With a hat-trick against Ajax, Osimhen has scored 6 goals in 3 matches playing for Galatasaray.

This cleared up criticism that he was playing in a lower league, mainly scoring against small teams. Galatasaray's victory over Liverpool proved that Osimhen was ready to play in a competitive and pressured environment like the Premier League.

Since last summer, Victor Osimhen has been on the radar of both MU and Chelsea. But in the end, both English teams chose other options for their attack.

The main reason is because of money problems.

Since childhood, Osimhen dreamed of playing in the Premier League. However, the price Napoli offered was too high for a player who openly wanted to leave.

As for Chelsea, Osimhen's salary demands (nearly 300,000 pounds/week) did not fit the club's structure. Instead, the London team signed contracts with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

For MU, they chose Benjamin Sesko. Although the transfer fee was 74 million pounds, the Slovenian striker's salary was significantly lower than Osimhen's demands.
