Minister Nguyen Manh Hung: Viettel Global is the pride of Vietnam

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung awarded certificates of merit to 10 companies.

Honoring pioneering companies reaching out to the world

On May 21, 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology held a ceremony to award Minister's Certificates of Merit to telecommunications enterprises investing abroad.

Accordingly, 10 companies received certificates of merit, including: Viettel Global Investment Joint Stock Corporation (Viettel Global - VTG) and its affiliated companies: Viettel Cambodia Company; Viettel Laos Company; Viettel Mozambique Company; Viettel Peru Company; Viettel Burundi Company; Viettel Myanmar Company; Viettel Haiti Company; Viettel Tanzania Company; Viettel Timor Leste Company.

The Minister's Certificates of Merit were awarded to enterprises according to the decision signed on January 23, 2025 for their outstanding achievements contributing to the cause of building and developing the Information and Communications industry.

At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, General Director of VTG, said that the Corporation has invested abroad since 2006, gradually expanding the market, for 19 years now. VTG is present in 10 markets and has about 60 million actual subscribers. VTG's total annual revenue is more than 3 billion USD, equivalent to domestic telecommunications revenue, of which 7/10 markets are number 1 in market share, 6/10 markets have recovered capital. Up to this point, VTG and its subsidiaries are confident and can be called successful in expanding their business abroad.

The General Director of VTG attributed the results to two main reasons: The vision since the first day of establishment has guided the development and the contributions of leaders and staff in foreign markets who have been brave, courageous and sacrificed in many very difficult circumstances. Haiti is a typical example when "guns and bullets" occurred every day. Next, Myanmar encountered political upheaval and earthquakes. Other markets also encountered many unexpected difficulties, but the companies have ensured the requirements assigned by Viettel Group and brought success.

With the recognition of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Minister, VTG General Director said this is a source of pride and also a pressure for VTG to strive and try harder.

Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group Tao Duc Thang assessed that in 2025, VTG and its member units overcame many challenges, with results exceeding expectations. By the end of 2025, VTG's expected capital recovery is more than 70%, profits increase 4 times, with 3 markets ranking No. 1 in market share: Haiti, Myanmar and Mozambique. Viettel Peru faced difficulties but rose to No. 2, surpassing several major carriers. Viettel Mozambique earned a profit of up to 25 million USD from wallet development, which is considered a bright spot in the difficult picture.

Success through warrior spirit

Sharing with Viettel Global, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that Viettel has been going abroad for 20 years, striving to have its name on the world telecommunications map and become the pride of Vietnam, an inspiration for many people. Anyone who goes abroad has many worries and having a successful Vietnamese person abroad will inspire confidence.

According to the Minister, thanks to overseas investment, Viettel has become a big brand not only in Vietnam but also in the world, with a brand value of nearly 9 billion USD. VTG's great contribution has been recognized by the Party and State thanks to its management capacity, sense of responsibility, military spirit, and contribution to promoting Vietnam's diplomatic relations.

"The Ministry of Science and Technology commends and highly appreciates VTG, the leaders, officers and employees of Viettel in the countries. In the coming time, VTG must promote the achievements it has achieved," the Minister emphasized.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also said that this success was due to the convergence of many factors such as human resources, experience, courage, exemplary spirit, and warrior spirit.

"From the very beginning, Viettel has not been afraid to come to difficult areas and stay. People in rural areas and in difficult areas who are provided with telecommunications services will be grateful and loyal to the people around them."

If you don't conquer the world, the world will conquer you.

According to Minister Nguyen Manh Hung, going abroad is to compete with the best companies, VTG should compete better. VTG must have a strategy and must be ahead of Viettel domestically. Going abroad also helps to learn many things and then return to develop for the domestic market.

Currently, the Minister said that many domestic enterprises, including digital technology enterprises, also want to go abroad. VTG can support commercialization for other Vietnamese enterprises by establishing an international chamber of commerce, bringing Vietnamese products abroad, and bringing foreign products to Vietnam.

In addition to telecommunications, there are also digital technology, digital economy, digital society, digital government, bringing IT and AI into every corner of life, digital training, digital agriculture and sending other businesses abroad such as mining, processing...

VTG going abroad is also to help promote Vietnam in other countries. Viettel in other countries should have a digital space to introduce Uncle Ho, Vietnam... This can be seen as a place for people in other countries to understand Vietnam. Viettel in other countries also needs to be a focal point to introduce Vietnam's successful model.

The Minister hopes that VTG will be more confident and ambitious. VTG's career has had 10 years of exploration, 10 years of consolidation and the next 10 years will advance to a new stage. VTG needs to officially announce a new stage of development, be more confident, attack new spaces, open a new page of history, more glorious, more stable, both fast and sustainable in the new 10-year journey.

"VTG must take the lead in Vietnam in the story of conquering the world. If we don't go, we won't become a dragon. If we don't go and conquer the world, the world will come and conquer us," Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized./.
