"The whole team is very focused"
On the afternoon of July 18, the U.23 Vietnam team had their last training session before the opening match against Laos. Goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien was chosen to be the one to answer the media interview before the training session. He shared: "My team and I are very focused, looking forward to tomorrow's match with the highest determination and best spirit. We consider all opponents the same. When we step onto the field, we all play with determination to achieve the best results. In this tournament, there are no weak opponents, the most important thing is that we maintain a good spirit to compete well. We will try our best in each match to conquer the highest goal."

In this tournament, Trung Kien is considered to have many opportunities to start for the U.23 Vietnam team. He is the number 1 goalkeeper of HAGL, regularly plays in the V-League, and is part of the Vietnam national team. Meanwhile, teammates such as Cao Van Binh (SLNA) or Nguyen Tan (Ba Ria-Vung Tau Club) still lack experience. However, the HAGL star appears modest.
To defend the throne, what problem do U.23 Vietnam and coach Kim Sang-sik need to solve?
He commented: "Regarding the competition for the goalkeeper position, I personally always try to perform well. The difference between the three goalkeepers is not much. I also learned a lot from goalkeeper coach Lee Won-jae. Every training session, I find it valuable because the coach has a lot of experience, having played in many big tournaments such as the World Cup. Therefore, I always feel that I am improving through each training session. As for HAGL, every time I play is a lesson and I always play with determination whenever given the opportunity."
Vietnam U.23 team is in good shape, the factor to replace Thanh Nhan has appeared.
During this training session, the U.23 Vietnam team welcomed Le Van Thuan. The midfielder from Thanh Hoa Club was called up to fill the position left by Nguyen Thanh Nhan. Previously, the striker from PVF-CAND suffered an injury on July 16 while training and had to say goodbye to the tournament. As for Van Thuan, he integrated well with his teammates as he joined the U.23 Vietnam team from the beginning of the tournament, only to be removed from the team's list before the whole team left for Indonesia.
Van Thuan arrived in Jakarta on the morning of July 18 and played in the afternoon. He showed no signs of fatigue and was still happy and comfortable.

The training atmosphere of the U.23 Vietnam team was also cheerful and exciting. The players enjoyed the team bonding exercises and improving reflexes given by fitness assistant Cedric Rogers. Smiles were always on the lips of Khuat Van Khang and his teammates.
In the remaining part of the training session, the U.23 Vietnam team played a match to strengthen their tactics and prepare for the opening match. The journey to defend the Southeast Asian title of coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will begin at 5:00 p.m. on July 19 against Laos.
Coach Kim Sang-sik brought the game board to the middle of the field and carefully instructed the players on tactics.
