The song in the MV is a chamber song with a modern sound, composed by People's Artist Pham Phuong Thao from Khanh Duong's poem, and arranged by Pham Tuan Anh.
The MV was directed by Anh Quan and filmed live at historical sites in Quang Tri : Thach Han River Wharf, Ancient Citadel, Hien Luong Bridge - Parallel 17, Truong Son Martyrs Cemetery...

“Ms. Thao told me about the charity trip in Quang Tri and the poem 'Con mai voi non song' by poet Khanh Duong. As soon as I heard the first melodies of the song composed by Ms. Thao, I was drawn into the historical space and pain of a time of war. The lyrics are simple, sincere but touching, the narration is calm but full of loss, making me feel like I am living in the heroic but painful moments of the nation,” Khanh Ly shared.

After receiving the song “Con mai voi non song”, Khanh Ly discussed with Pham Phuong Thao about the arrangement direction: It must keep the soul of the chamber music but put on a youthful, modern breath to be closer to today’s audience. She paid special attention to the two vocal highlights in the middle of the song and the final vocal, where the feelings of gratitude and the inner resonance are pushed up like the “heart” of the entire work.
People's Artist Pham Phuong Thao highly appreciated her junior's choice and handling: "Khanh Ly has a wide vocal range, even sound, good technique, singing with everything from voice to emotion. She is very intelligent, putting herself in the role of a storyteller, bringing listeners back to the past and then making them tearful and passionate in the present."
Director Anh Quan said that the idea for the MV "Con mai voi non song" was formed as soon as he heard the audio demo: Reconstructing the memory of the battle of Quang Tri Citadel in 1972 with 81 fierce days and nights that went down in history. Sticking closely to the lyrics, he built the story of a veteran father taking his daughter back to the old battlefield, to historical landmarks such as Hien Luong bridge, Thach Han riverbank, Citadel, Truong Son cemetery... That journey is both a way to tell heroic history to the next generation and a tribute to the fallen soldiers...
"Khanh Ly's acting is very natural, genuine and inspiring to the audience," said director Anh Quan.
The director added that what impressed him was not only her acting but also her discipline and endurance: “We filmed from 4-5am to capture the sunrise, continued in the harsh midday sun of the central region, then moved to the cemetery to film the night scene, but Ly did not complain or show any signs of fatigue. On the contrary, she always actively coordinated with the director, cameraman, sound and lighting… Thanks to that, many scenes only needed one or two takes.”
Khanh Ly said that the experience of filming at the historical sites of Quang Tri brought her real emotions, helping her express the song more deeply. The MV "Con mai voi non song" is like a stick of incense, bringing young people back to history, remembering milestones, and cherishing peace .

After completing the MV "Forever with the mountains and rivers", she will continue to make more products about soldiers, heroic Vietnamese mothers and historical stories to spread gratitude and national pride.
Sao Mai Khanh Ly is a Doctor of Music , currently teaching vocal music at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
