Saigon Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SCB) has just updated the list of transaction offices after merging localities.

As of July 15, SCB only maintained 54 transaction offices in 20 provinces and cities after the merger. This number is equivalent to about 25% compared to the 207 transaction offices that were operating before SCB closed 153 transaction offices in just two years.

With 19 transaction points, Ho Chi Minh City is still the locality with the most SCB transaction points compared to the remaining provinces and cities.

In Hanoi , although many transaction points have been closed, SCB still has 8 transaction offices.

Hai Phong and Vinh Long each have 3 SCB transaction offices. The provinces and cities of An Giang , Gia Lai, Tay Ninh, Da Nang, and Dong Thap each have 2 SCB transaction offices.

In the remaining provinces and cities, each locality has 1 SCB transaction office, including: Bac Ninh , Ca Mau, Can Tho, Hung Yen, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Dong Nai.

The simultaneous closure of transaction offices at SCB took place after the scandal involving Truong My Lan - the bank's controlling shareholder - was exposed. The cuts have been taking place massively since June 2023 and show no signs of stopping.

In 2024 alone, the bank closed 95 transaction points.

In the first 6 months of 2025, 14 SCB transaction offices stopped operating. The most recent time was on June 13, SCB announced the closure of 3 transaction offices in Ho Chi Minh City.

Along with the termination of the transaction points, SCB also drastically cut staff and liquidated a series of assets including specialized cars, ATMs and other assets.

SCB was established in 2011 on the basis of voluntary merger of 3 banks: Saigon Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SCB), First Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Ficombank) and Vietnam Tin Nghia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (TinNghiaBank).

To date, SCB has a charter capital of VND20,000 billion. This bank is still under special control of the State Bank since the end of 2022 and is in the restructuring phase.
