According to SF , the front line in Ukraine is still seething with fierce battles but no side has achieved significant victories. As Kiev's counterattack has so far brought only minor advances that have exhausted Ukrainian units, the Russian army has gained the military initiative on several fronts.

Over the past week, Ukrainian forces have resumed operations on islands in the delta of the Dnieper River. They have recently gained a number of small strongholds in the area, mostly in the gray zone.

Ukraine continues its efforts to expand its control. However, they have been unsuccessful due to heavy Russian artillery fire and Russian attacks. Several groups of Ukrainian soldiers were also stopped on the Kazatsky and Aleshkinsky islands not long ago.

To prevent the Ukrainian army from moving its reserves to the Kherson region, the Russian air force is also bombing the western bank of the Dnieper River. Ukrainian forces, equipped with advanced NATO weapons, have been unable to penetrate Russian defenses in the Zaporozhye region, so Ukraine may launch a ground operation in the Kherson region to advance towards the Crimean Peninsula. A breakthrough across the shallow river and further into the steppe could be a hope for Kiev.

Meanwhile, on the Zaporozhye front, Ukrainian units had to pause their offensive. Since early September, Ukrainian forces had tried to advance east of Velikaya Novoselka, near Novomayorskoe, but had not achieved any success and were forced to go on the defensive. Then the southern Orekhov army, which had had time to regroup, resumed major attacks along the Rabotino-Verbovoe line. However, after several days, without success, they began to rotate other units.

Without launching major attacks, the Ukrainian army conducted combat reconnaissance and small attacks as artillery battles between the two sides raged.

On the other side, Russian forces increased artillery and air strikes to limit the attacks of Ukrainian forces along the entire southern front.

In the direction of Donetsk, the Russian army launched a successful attack near the town of Opytnoe and took control of several more Ukrainian strongholds. Recent Ukrainian attempts to attack the settlement were repelled and the Russians launched counterattacks, expanding their control in the area.

While Ukrainian forces are still fighting for control of Klescheevka and Andreevka south of Artemovsk, Russian paratroopers have launched an attack on the town of Orekhovo-Vasilievka. After breaking through the defenses, the Russian army has taken control of the settlement and is currently clearing the area. In this situation, the Ukrainian command was forced to mobilize additional forces from other directions to carry out further counterattacks. In the coming days, the fighting in this direction may become more intense.
