Ferrari's hybrid supercar not as good as customers expected?

Not only SF90 but also the 296 supercar model has dropped in price quite sharply after only 2,001 km of rolling, which is extremely rare for locals using Ferrari gasoline engine versions.

Ferrari buyers don't typically associate depreciation with the Prancing Horse, but this 2022 Ferrari 296 GTB is a reminder that even Maranello's latest creations aren't immune.

Delivered new with a list price of $378,141, this Ferrari 296 GTB has just 1,269 miles, just over 2,0000 km, and is now selling for $260,000. The transaction highlights the sometimes harsh realities of depreciation in the supercar world .

In just three years, this 296 GTB has lost over $100,000 from its original price, despite being lightly used, heavily optioned, and having a clean history report. Finished in a special-order Azzurro Metallic paint over a Nero interior, the coupe looks stunning.

Ferrari design director Flavio Manzoni is responsible for the exquisitely sculpted bodywork. The refined classic lines recall the Dino 246, while modern aerodynamics ensure downforce and stability at extreme speeds.

Underneath the elegant bodywork lies Ferrari's hybrid technology. The 296 GTB's 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 is paired with a single electric motor, producing a total of 818 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.0 seconds and reach a top speed of over 205 mph. This particular car is loaded with options, costing $65,000 more than the base price.

Highlights include a front suspension lift kit, 20-inch forged wheels, Scuderia fenders, and a carbon fiber steering wheel with integrated gearshift indicator. Comfort isn't neglected either, with the 296 GTB getting heated and ventilated seats, a premium audio system, and Apple CarPlay integration.

The service records show that the car has been well cared for despite its low mileage. The cabin air filter was replaced in late 2023, after only 800 km. A new battery was installed in mid-2024, and in January 2025, after 1,900 km, the oil and air filter were changed.

The fact that Ferrari supercars using hybrid engines are resold at a loss, in contrast to gasoline models that always increase in price, shows that buyers are not very interested in hybrid gasoline engines, or they are not as good as they experience on ICE engines.
