Singaporean President not to stand for re-election

The President said after very careful consideration, she decided not to stand for re-election, expressing her great honor and privilege to serve as the eighth President of Singapore for the past six years.

Her term will expire on September 13 and the presidential election, which is held on a regular six-year cycle, has to be called by then.
