Multimedia students impressed with lesson on "real news, fake news"

This morning, May 8, students majoring in multimedia communications at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (UMT) had their first class of News Assessment at the Thanh Nien Newspaper office.

The opening ceremony of the News Assessment training course for multimedia communication students at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology Management, organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper, also took place right after the class.

Bridging the gap between theory and practice

Present at the opening ceremony, Dr. Tran Luu Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Management and Technology, said: "Today's students are very good. The problem is how to make them better and go in the right direction. At school, they are trained by experienced lecturers. However, that is only theoretical knowledge. There is always a gap between theory and practice. Without practice and real-life experience, it is impossible to be good...".

According to Dr. Cuong, the course at Thanh Nien Newspaper is an opportunity for students of the school's multimedia communications major to gain practical experience. Sharing about the first lesson, Truc Quynh, a student majoring in multimedia communications, said: "I am very impressed, happy and grateful to have the opportunity to study at Thanh Nien Newspaper. Meanwhile, student Ha My felt excited to be exposed to the professional space of the editorial office and to enter a real working environment. "In the near future, I hope to learn how the editorial office operates, the process of producing a newspaper, the working process of reporters and how to evaluate news through specific situations...", Ha My said.

Student Nam Kha also expressed: "I am very happy and honored to study at the newspaper. I hope that the teachers who are journalists will support us as much as possible so that we can better understand our major and our future jobs."
