On the afternoon of September 5, a working delegation from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training worked and presented gifts to schools in Minh Chau commune.
Minh Chau is the only island commune of Hanoi city, isolated at the confluence of the Red River - Da River - Lo River, with a population of about 6,600 people.
Mr. Bui Thai Son, Chairman of Minh Chau Commune People's Committee, said that after the administrative reorganization, the commune re-established 3 kindergartens, primary schools, and junior high schools with a total of about 1,200 students. At present, the commune does not have a high school.

As a result, approximately 400 students have to go to school in other areas each year. Post-secondary students have to travel by ferry across the river, which poses a safety risk, especially during the rainy season.
From this reality, Minh Chau Commune People's Committee has built an investment project for Minh Chau Junior High School - High School to both meet the needs of on-site learning and optimize investment resources.

In the 2025-2026 school year, the quantity and quality of teachers in schools in Minh Chau commune will basically meet the requirements of the task. However, the secondary school level is short of 3 teachers. The working conditions of teachers here are still difficult in terms of policies and geographical conditions.
According to Mr. Bui Thai Son, although the government and people of Minh Chau commune have made many efforts, the education and training work of the commune still faces many difficulties and limitations. Currently, only Minh Chau Primary School meets the standards, but many items have degraded, some rooms have substandard areas due to lack of appropriate functional renovation.

At the meeting, the representative of Minh Chau commune's leadership proposed that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training consider and propose preferential policies for cadres, teachers and workers working in the commune according to Decree No. 76/2019/ND-CP; support the cost of ferry crossing the river for students and teachers to reduce the burden on students' families and provide more motivation for teachers to work with peace of mind.
According to preliminary statistics from schools, currently, every day, about 400 students and 58 teachers have to take a ferry across the river to go to work and school. The total cost of ferry travel is estimated at more than 1.7 billion VND/school year.
