Solskjaer thinks MU was wrong to sell McTominay.

"Scott and Fred are the type of players you can rely on absolutely every day. They always give 100% when they play. I really don't understand why MU sold Scott," coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shared with BBC Sport .

Solskjaer also felt pained watching his former team struggle. "To be honest, watching the matches now makes me uncomfortable because of the team's position in the rankings," he shared. "However, I still hear the fans chanting my name from the stands. MU has always been my second home, and that will never change."

McTominay joined Napoli last summer for £25m, after several seasons of inconsistent form and a spell on the bench at Manchester United. However, under the guidance of Napoli coach Antonio Conte, the 28-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a resurgence.

Given a clearer role in Conte's tactical system, McTominay shone with 11 goals and 4 assists after 31 matches in Serie A. He and Napoli lead the table with 3 points more than Inter, and are only one step away from the championship.

McTominay is having the season of his life. In his first season with Napoli, McTominay scored 12 goals and had 2 assists (11 goals in Serie A) in all competitions, the best personal achievement of the Scottish player's career.

In the last 3 matches, the former Manchester United star has scored 5 goals. He also became the Scottish player to score the most goals in a season in Serie A, surpassing the legend Denis Law.
