From 2006 to 2015, shrimp farming reached 100% of the cultivated area, contributing to increased income. However, by 2016, following the marine environmental incident and the deterioration of infrastructure, farming gradually became unprofitable, leading some households to switch to other occupations.

Based on field surveys, the infrastructure in the Thach Ban aquaculture area, such as the water supply and drainage canal system and internal field roads, is currently severely degraded and damaged.

Many shrimp farms have been abandoned.

The facilities are dilapidated and run-down.

To date, in the Thach Ban aquaculture area, only 12 households are still involved in shrimp farming, covering an area of 7.2 hectares.

Adjacent to the aquaculture area is 30.8 hectares of salt-making land that has been converted to aquaculture to align with development planning and enhance product value.

In accordance with Prime Minister 's Decision 467 on investing in projects "Construction and upgrading of fisheries logistics service facilities" and "Restoration and regeneration of aquatic ecosystems and fisheries resources" in four central provinces, using compensation funds from Formosa Hung Nghiep Steel Company Limited, the People's Committee of Thach Khe commune recently submitted a proposal to the competent authorities to prioritize and decide on investment in the Thach Ban aquaculture area project.

If the province allocates investment resources, it will create favorable conditions for the locality to consolidate and concentrate agricultural land, attract investment, mechanize, and form high-tech and biotechnology-based shrimp farming areas to improve productivity and product quality, minimize environmental impact, adapt to climate change conditions, and contribute to job creation and increased income for the people. In addition, investment in aquaculture areas also aims to reduce natural exploitation, protect aquatic resources, and maximize the potential and natural advantages of Thach Khe commune.
Specifically, the project will contribute to bringing nearly 40 hectares of currently undeveloped land into use, maximizing its effectiveness, contributing to job creation and increasing income for more than 100 households with land in the project area through linkages, forming cooperatives, establishing businesses, and benefiting from other state policies, as well as forming a concentrated raw material area to serve Thach Khe beach tourism and export.
