The Department of Education and Training of Son La province has just announced the exam scores and admission standards for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year.

In the 2025-2026 school year entrance exam for grade 10 in Son La, the whole province has nearly 18,000 candidates registered to take the exam at 43 testing locations. The total enrollment target for grade 10 in public high schools in the province is 16,400 students.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Son La High School for the Gifted was assigned 385 enrollment targets for grade 10, with a total of 11 specialized classes (35 students/specialized class). Accordingly, the school was allowed to open 2 specialized math classes, 2 specialized English classes; 1 class was opened for specialized subjects such as information technology, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, history, and geography.
Admission scores to Son La Specialized High School are calculated according to the following formula:
Admission score = Total score of 3 general subject exams with coefficient 1 (including math, literature, foreign language) + score of specialized subject exam with coefficient 2 + incentive points (if any).
The subjects who are awarded bonus points when taking the entrance exam to Son La Specialized High School are students who have won first, second, and third prizes (for specialized subjects) in provincial-level excellent secondary school student competitions organized by the Department of Education and Training of Son La province. First prize is awarded 1.5 points; second prize is awarded 1 point; third prize is awarded 0.5 points.
The school only considers candidates who have completed all four required exams. The general exam must score 3.5 points or higher; the specialized subject exam must score 5 points or higher.
Based on the admission scores and enrollment quota for each specialized class, the school considers from high to low to meet the quota.
In case of considering the final quota and there are many candidates with the same score, the school will consider the criteria of specialized subject exam scores, average scores of the entire school year in grades 9, 8, 7, and 6.
