The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2025 in Da Nang promises to be spectacular with a grand stage and state-of-the-art performance technology. The event will bring together 10 international teams, last for more than 6 weeks, and also mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang.

Breakthroughs in scale and technology.

From the beginning of May, preparations for DIFF 2025 in Da Nang have been bustling. This year's event is expected to surpass all previous milestones in terms of scale, performance technology, and cultural and artistic value.

The centerpiece of the festival is the large-scale outdoor stage located on the east bank of the Han River. With an area of up to 1,605.8 m² – a 60% increase compared to 2024 – the DIFF 2025 stage is designed to be open, twice as wide as the previous year, providing a multi-layered, flexible space suitable for performances combining music , light, and fireworks. This is considered one of the most impressive outdoor stages in the 15 years of the DIFF festival.

This year, the performance technology has also been significantly upgraded. A modern mechanical system with five lifting and lowering arches, including a central arch measuring 21 meters wide, facilitates large-scale artistic performances. Two 18.5-meter wing arches and two auxiliary arches near the riverbank expand the stage effect horizontally and vertically, providing a visually stunning experience for the audience.

One of the standout new features of DIFF 2025 is the application of modern technology to the viewer experience. A new generation of LED screens is integrated to optimize visual effects, enhancing the synchronization of projections with music and fireworks. The surround sound system has been significantly improved, ensuring a vibrant and realistic listening experience regardless of seating position in the stands.

Notably, augmented reality (AR) technology was introduced to the fireworks festival for the first time through the "Sun Paradise Land" app. With just a smartphone, users can interact with the fireworks effects in real time, exploring the performance space from a fresh and creative perspective. The combination of digital technology and performance art is opening up a completely new approach, elevating the cultural and tourism experience in Da Nang.

Promoting tourism, broadening horizons.

DIFF 2025 is not just a festival of light and music, but also carries a profound message about Da Nang's aspirations for development in the new era. This year's theme, "Da Nang - A New Era," is clearly expressed through the stage design featuring the Marble Mountains rising from the ocean. At the center of the stage is a glowing gem, symbolizing the city's strong and dynamic spirit of progress.

The undulating mountain and wave patterns not only create visual inspiration but also convey the spirit of harmony and unity, reflecting the core values that Da Nang aims to spread in its journey of international integration. This is also a special occasion for the city to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its liberation, marking a period of strong development in economy, culture, and people.

DIFF 2025 brings together 10 fireworks teams from 3 continents, including: Vietnam, Finland, the UK, Portugal, Poland, South Korea, Italy, Canada, and China. This is the first time the festival has lasted more than 6 weeks, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy a series of spectacular fireworks displays along with many attractive entertainment activities.

The opening night will take place at 8:10 PM on May 31st and will be broadcast live on VTV1. The festival will kick off with a competition between the host team Vietnam 1 and the reigning DIFF 2024 champion, Finland.

Mr. Huynh Nam Thang, General Director of Sun Group in the Central region, affirmed that DIFF 2025 will be a special festival. "Not only because of its grand scale, but also because of its great significance as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang City. The theme 'New Era' reflects the city's aspiration for innovation, integration, and outstanding development," Mr. Thang emphasized.

Alongside the fireworks displays, a series of live music concerts will also be held throughout the summer, featuring many famous domestic and international artists. According to Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, the DIFF festival is also an effective tool for promoting tourism. "The Department is proposing that the city build an international fireworks complex, as part of the strategy to develop new and high-quality tourism products in 2025. This will be one of the three major breakthroughs for the industry," Ms. Hanh said.

Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, said that the tourism industry has implemented stimulus programs, enhanced tour routes, and developed unique products for DIFF. From an international professional perspective, Ms. Nadia Shakira Wong, Director of Global 2000, a fireworks organization consulting company, believes that a synchronized infrastructure for the festival is a decisive factor for long-term success.
