Han River lights up with fireworks in Da Nang

The 2025 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) in Da Nang promises to be an explosion with a grand stage and modern performance technology. The event will gather 10 international teams, last for more than 6 weeks, and also mark the 50th anniversary of Da Nang Liberation Day.

Breakthrough in scale and technology

Since the beginning of May, preparations for DIFF 2025 in Da Nang have been bustling. This year’s event is expected to surpass all previous milestones in terms of scale, performance technology, and cultural and artistic value.

The highlight of the festival is the large-scale outdoor stage located on the East bank of the Han River. With an area of up to 1,605.8 m² - an increase of 60% compared to 2024 - the DIFF 2025 stage is designed to be open, twice as wide as last year, providing a multi-layered, flexible space, suitable for performances combining music , light and fireworks. This is considered one of the most impressive outdoor stages in the 15 years of organizing DIFF.

This year, the performance technology has also been upgraded significantly. The modern mechanical system with 5 lifting domes, of which the central dome is up to 21 m wide, creates conditions for large-scale artistic performances. The two 18.5 m wing domes and 2 sub-dome domes near the river edge help expand the stage effects horizontally and in depth, bringing a satisfying experience to the audience.

One of the outstanding new features of DIFF 2025 is the application of modern technology to the viewer experience. The new generation LED floor is integrated to optimize visual effects, enhancing the ability to display in sync with music and fireworks. The surround sound system is greatly improved, ensuring vivid and realistic listening quality no matter where you sit in the stands.

In particular, augmented reality (AR) technology is introduced for the first time to the fireworks festival through the "Sun Paradise Land" application. With just a smartphone, users can interact with fireworks effects in real time, exploring the performance space from a new and creative perspective. The combination of digital technology and performing arts is opening up a completely new approach, elevating the cultural and tourism experience in Da Nang.

Promote tourism, broaden horizons

DIFF 2025 is not only a festival of lights and music, but also carries a profound message about Da Nang's development aspirations in the new period. This year's theme is "Da Nang - New Era" which is clearly shown through the stage design with the image of Ngu Hanh Son rising in the middle of the ocean. The center of the stage is a glowing pearl, symbolizing the city's strong and dynamic spirit of growth.

The continuous mountain lines not only create visual inspiration but also convey the spirit of harmony and connection, the core values that Da Nang wants to spread in its journey of international integration. This is also a special occasion for the city to celebrate the 50th anniversary of liberation, marking a period of strong development in terms of economy, culture and people.

DIFF 2025 brings together 10 fireworks teams from 3 continents, including: Vietnam, Finland, UK, Portugal, Poland, Korea, Italy, Canada and China. This is the first time the festival lasts more than 6 weeks, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy consecutive top-notch fireworks displays and many exciting entertainment activities.

The opening night will take place at 8:10 p.m. on May 31, broadcast live on VTV1. The festival season will kick off with a match between the host team Vietnam 1 and the reigning DIFF 2024 champion - Finland.

Mr. Huynh Nam Thang, General Director of Sun Group Central Region, affirmed that DIFF 2025 will be a special festival season. "Not only because of its grand scale but also because of its great significance when taking place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Da Nang City. The theme "New Era" represents the city's aspiration for innovation, integration and outstanding development" - Mr. Thang emphasized.

Along with the fireworks nights, a series of music events - live concerts - will also be held throughout the summer, with the participation of many famous domestic and international artists. According to Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, the DIFF festival is also an effective tool for promoting tourism. "The Department is proposing that the city build an international fireworks complex, part of the strategy to develop new and high-quality tourism products in 2025. This will be one of the three major breakthroughs of the industry," said Ms. Hanh.

Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, said that the tourism industry has implemented stimulus programs, increased tour routes and built special products for DIFF.
