 The Thai River is 11 km long, originating from Quynh Lam commune, flowing to Ngoc Son commune, Cau Giat town and pouring into downstream communes including Quynh Hong, Quynh Hung, Quynh Dien, Quynh Tho... of Quynh Luu district. Mr. Tran Binh Trong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Hung commune admitted that for a long time, the commune had nearly 20 households in hamlets 7 and 12 encroaching on the Thai River to raise fish, causing obstruction to the flow. The commune has propagated and mobilized people not to build banks to raise fish along the river, but many households still do not comply. Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hang - Head of the Department of Agriculture of Quynh Luu district said: Every year, during the rainy season, Quynh Luu district often experiences flooding due to the encroachment of the Thai River. Faced with this situation, the district is reviewing and coordinating with the communes of Quynh Hung, Quynh Tho, Quynh Hong... to propagate and mobilize people to dismantle the works and return the land. It is expected that by the end of 2023, the district will implement a project to dredge the sediment of the Thai River worth 8 billion VND, to drain floods for the above communes.
