For example, geography subjects will have changes in boundaries, geographical knowledge will also be different, and the historical geography section will also need to be updated when a new province is associated with place names, famous people, and historical figures associated with the new province...
Voters of Hung Yen province requested the Ministry of Education and Training to adjust and supplement the content of some subjects in the general education program to suit the reality when merging provinces.
Responding to this content, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that the ministry has organized a review of the 2018 General Education Program, the program of subjects and educational activities, the requirements to be achieved for each content and topic; the content of textbooks for subjects, educational activities of all levels, compared with the implementation of the rearrangement of administrative units at all levels, building a model of organizing two-level local governments, and proposing necessary contents that need to be revised and supplemented.
The review results show that history and geography, economics and law education need adjustment.
The Council of Subject Experts has proposed contents that need to be revised and supplemented to be consistent with the implementation of the arrangement of administrative units at all levels and the construction of a two-level local government organization model. The Minister of Education and Training affirmed that he will issue revised contents of the curriculum of a number of subjects and educational activities as soon as possible.
Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training identified a number of subjects that are directly affected by changes in administrative boundaries when implementing the two-tier local government model. These include history and geography for grades 4, 5, and 9; geography for grade 12; history and economic and legal education for grade 10.
These subjects will take steps according to regulations to edit the subject program as a basis for editing textbooks, such as updating requirements, knowledge content, place names, data, maps, charts and socio-economic information...
The revision of the subject program is carried out on the principle of minimizing changes to textbooks and strengthening guidance so that teachers and schools can proactively implement the program according to their authority to suit reality.
