Dak Lak, the “coffee capital” of the Central Highlands, is famous for its fertile red basalt soil, diverse forest resources, and key agricultural products such as pepper, rubber, and durian. Meanwhile, Phu Yen has a long coastline, rich marine resources, potential seaports, and a rapidly developing island tourism industry.

According to Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ta Anh Tuan, Dak Lak (new) is a relatively large province, with an extremely important strategic position in terms of security - defense as well as economy - society. Currently, Dak Lak's area ranks third in the country with more than 18,000 km², a population of more than 3.3 million people, a border of over 71 km and a coastline of 189 km. Dak Lak (old) was formerly the center of the Central Highlands region and Phu Yen (old) was also the central province of the South Central Coast region. This is the traffic hub connecting from the North to the South, from the Central Highlands to the South Central Coast. Therefore, the development space of the province is very large. The province has favorable conditions for developing the marine economy, especially industries with high added value such as metallurgy, petrochemicals, renewable energy, large databases, etc. In addition, developing tourism and services associated with forests, seas and cultural identity has also become one of the province's key economic sectors.
In the first 6 months of the year, Dak Lak province had 19 projects approved for investment decisions, with a total capital of 9,689 billion VND. Of which, the Hoa Tam Industrial Park Investment Project alone, implemented by Hoa Phat Group, has a total investment capital of more than 4,188 billion VND. |
With a large area of agricultural land and favorable climatic conditions, combined with increasingly improved processing and logistics infrastructure, Dak Lak province will be fertile ground for high-tech agricultural projects and closed agricultural value chains. Products such as coffee, pepper, and tropical fruits are not only produced with higher quality, but can also easily access export markets through seaports.
The merger of the two provinces has created a new administrative center with a larger scale, more diverse terrain and resources, thereby significantly expanding the "room" for attracting investment. Investors can now see a more comprehensive picture, where they can develop cross-sectoral projects, taking advantage of the dual advantages of both forests and seas.
In addition, the combination of ecotourism, the unique Central Highlands culture of Dak Lak (old) with sea tourism, resorts, and heritage exploration of Phu Yen (old) will create unique tourism products, attracting domestic and foreign tourists. Investment projects in tourism infrastructure, eco-resorts, and complex entertainment areas will have outstanding development potential. Having abundant agricultural, forestry, and aquatic raw materials, along with a seaport system, will strongly promote the development of the processing industry. Factories processing agricultural, seafood, and wood products... can be located in industrial parks near seaports, optimizing transportation and export costs. At the same time, the logistics industry will also be heavily invested in to connect raw material areas with processing and export centers.

In addition, the potential for solar energy in Dak Lak (old) and coastal wind energy in Phu Yen (old) are also attractive fields for investors in the trend of sustainable development and energy conversion.
Mr. Tran Thieu Nha, Chairman of the Dak Lak Young Entrepreneurs Association, Director of Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) Central Highlands - South Central Coast Branch shared: “When the two provinces merge, it will create great opportunities for businesses as well as investors in Dak Lak province. Previously, when working, we only talked about the characteristics of the Central Highlands, but now we will talk about a unified region. This creates great opportunities in trade connections. When becoming one, we have many opportunities to promote products in a more diverse way. Besides, the opportunity to develop the tourism industry is huge. Previously, when coming to Dak Lak, tourists only experienced waterfalls, forests or Central Highlands specialties. However, now, the (new) Dak Lak province will have products and things that other places cannot have, this is a huge advantage after the merger”.
